... wind gusts lightly across a treeless field, made barren by man and mer over ages of conflict. The skies are dimmed with darkening clouds as a light patter of rain trickles from the heavens, 'tinking' off the Orcish Warband's war-painted armor. Brutish warriors with shields made of bone and overly thickened Iron and Steel, armor adorned with sharpened fangs from slain beasts and the skulls of men. Facing the wind, they await the interlopers, with the smell of Marsh Walkers, Elves and Northmen filling their nostrils, waiting to spring their ambush. Conflict drives many armies and bands of explorers across the lands, even the untamed ones, but these vicious Orc claim no allegiance to either of the three great 'Pacts', these lands are theirs and theirs alone.

The leader gestures and the orc's draw arrows and shield alike in unison with not a sound...
Any second the roving band will breach the horizon and meet savage arrow and steel with such ferocity, the orcs would not break a sweat.

The sounds of approach stop.
The ground seizes to gently tremble with movement.
All is quiet... wind whistles through helmet and quiver... nothing.

Frantically they form up tight in a circular defensive pattern scanning the hills for movement...
Arrow punctures throat and chest, as several orcs clutch at their wounds and break formation. They had been made.
Arrow and spell rain into the circle of brutish warriors, thinning their numbers as the interlopers broke the horizon and came into view.

In his last moments, a younger orc struggles to keep his eyes open, to get a look at the wretches that had countered their ambush...
A large Northman walks forward, and looks down upon the fading orc, surrounded by many figures which he cannot see clearly...
a large ' V 'on a masterfully crafted shield of blues and golds walks past the fallen orcs. He hears him speak out of sight...

" To the Imperial City brothers and sisters... lets not keep my throne waiting. "

A scaled hand covers the orc's mouth as his eyes widen, a blade across his throat... and a raspy breath whispers into his ear ...

" Shh... only dreamsss now "....
