Sounds strangely like the format to a 'Competition Ideas/Create a Competition' Competition :P I do have a semi-serious question though, what do you mean by Week 4? What would people be spamming about if the Competition had already been decided upon?

I'm not sure what the point of weeks 3 and 4 are to be honest. If I were to do it I would vote closer to the end of the month and have more time for submissions at the beginning. 1 week for submissions is really quite a small time frame, particularly when you consider how busy some people are.

I think it's a matter of structure - not my strong part, I'm pretty chaotic as a person, but I do believe that having some sort of a longer term schedule would serve everyone well. We stand and run on our legs, like sprinters do, but the upholding factor is our spine. It's like the constitution we bear. Not claiming that we are building something everlasting like Alexander The Great - who finally found himself beaten  - but, perhaps a bit of vision further than one's nose and two weeks ahead might not harm anyone.

What Andere said, plus the fact that I'm the one who sets these up. I'm sure I don't have to direct you to my ever long to-do list around here, not to mention my obligations behind the computer screen. I've been asking for help setting up the CotM for months now. If you're interested, you can still PM me to help!

However, I can organize some public Google docs to collect ideas and a schedule in one place (as well as making a section for it on my wiki talk page for easy review), since things can get lost easily in a thread. October will definitely feature a screenshot caption contest; I'm going through screenshots by our members now and asking for permission. If you have a good one you'd like to submit for consideration, feel free to PM it to me! :D

It was just a vague suggestion for a more formal structure with a very rough outline. I used spam because I'm a pessimist and fully expect that at least some of us will moan and complain about the final decision.

Just a shame that making this post wasn't a waste of your precious time. If you don't like an idea why not suggest something different that everyone can take part in?

I never stated I had an idea, nor is it a requirement to post despite your demand implying otherwise. I just didn't like yours.

Chill AKB, lead by example. It's just a suggestion, although rather rude, to make an idea. Sure, I would have been worse, but being nice is in MY job discription; I just click buttons. Unfortunately, it is in yours, and even here we should be nice. Or at least agree to disagree and not be hostile.

@ AKB - Technically it was Avron's idea. I suggested you put up an idea, I did not demand you do anything. The whole point of this thread is to discuss things to do for the wider community, yet you seem to be the only one coming on to pick faults without offering anything in return. You don't like me fine, I don't like you either. Stop trying to pick a fight with me, I have added you to my ignore list I suggest you do the same for me.

As hard as I tried, I couldn't find anything that specifically stated admins had to be nice besides the etiquette guidelines that aren't necessarily in effect here. I do consider my post to be following it, however. It wasn't rude, nor an attack on the user, just his idea. And yes, I say "his idea" as he previously posted in support of it. However, since this user has clearly decided that I was attempting to pick a fight with him when I wasn't (alongside a comment in which he states that I dislike him, which isn't true. I try to not dislike anyone on a matter of principle.), I agree that it would in fact be best to chill out. Sorry for being overtly negative. It was not intended to be an attack against you, and I apologize that it came across in such a way.

Though now that I think about it, I do remember an idea for a competition that seems to have been forgotten. I couldn't find anyone mentioning it in the last few pages, so I think it would be appropriate to revive it. We should probably see the Create-a-Smiley idea through. The reward would be the winners get to have their smileys being available permanently with the rest of the smileys. One of the reasons this idea was killed previously was due to the fact that Dave would have to get involved to make it happen, but he's been reasonably active recently so I think it might be possible to get him to make the change.

Why can't we all be friends? But on topic, I would like to do smilies.

As good an idea as that is, AKB, as you'll see on the last page of that thread Avron has put the brakes on it since she doesn't have the necessary permissions to add smilies. :(

I know that and directly responded to that concern. Dave's been considerably more active recently, so it should be entirely possible to arrange this with him.

Then let's do that! October or November?

October, because we'd better be doing something pretty epic for the Skyrim anniversary.

Actually, that bring up a wholly different idea...I think we should do something specifically on 11/11.

Good idea Gideon. 11/11 is a Sunday so how about an 11 hour Skyrim marathon with online commentary via the forum and Skype with a list of specific challenges.

Whoa. Skype Multiplayer.

Everybody starts the game at the same time (post character creation) a route is agreed upon ahead of time and we all do a playthrough of a certain guild/main quest. We could even have different groups doing different guilds/quests. We could come up with lists of things each group would do and have those shared experiences!

Speaking from experience, that would very quickly become a huge dicking around competition. It'd still be fun, though!

I don't actually know what a YT account is? So I suggest you pm Avron or Musicman about that Cardbird.

If we are going to do something we should probably start a new thread so this idea doesn't get lost in with CotM discussion or buried at the bottom of Avron's to do list. Ideally Avron should start the thread that way we will get the most people to read it (now that Doros is gone, although Doros celebrating Skyrim would be and interesting notion).

YES.

Those of us playing over Steam won't be able to use Skype while playing, but we do have the advantage of Steam text/voice chat anyway.

Also, I like having different groups do different guilds. Seems like the best way to do it.

Why wouldn't you be able to use Skype? I use Skype for multiplayer chatting all the time.

Doesn't that only work for PC gamers, though?

Well, Gideon said "us playing on Steam wouldn't be able to use it".

Skype doesn't play well with full-screen applications for me. Definitely not those that really require sound to play.
