If You Could Make An Addition To The Forums...

What would you add? For example, a shoutbox, chatroom, quick reply (Even though we already have that), etc.
Would you change the avatar size limit? The signature character limit? Anything else?

Larger sigs would be nice... but other than that, I would change a thing. :mrgreen:

Large Avatars and Signature Character limits would always be good, but there has to be a cut off point, other wise they'd keep getting bigger and bigger :lol:

. In the end, the site capabilities dictate this, but I guess the bigger the limit the better, is a generally applicable philosophy, as long as users can disable the viewing of those features if they wish.

I actually had a thought along these lines before, but I can't for the life of me remember it at this moment.

A quick reply function like the Beth Forums would be a nicer set up than the current one, but obviously the forum software is different, and this works just as well (I tend to use the full editor anyway

).

I'd put limits on signatures. No more than 1 URL, 1 image and 2 lines of text. Unfortunately, this forums software can't place restrictions. Though it can place scroll bars on ones that get too long. So people don't complain about users with absurdly long signatures. (Probably keep Jeff happy)

Otherwise, I'd bring in YouTube embedding. As this is like, the only forum in the internet that doesn't have it.

Larger file size for avatars. I had to cut out half of the frames to shrink mine enough.

I like how the Paradox forums have little avatars for what games we have played.

There could be a small and different symbol for each ES game and this could make out profile a little less visually blah.

One important policy for UESP is to secure fast loading of pages. That, together with the fact that we emphasize true discussion more than slogans and stuff, results in us not really wanting too much graphics, or too much of signatures --- make your point by words, that's it, and others will surely respect you.

I would add the ability to mark certain threads as never having new posts. If I posted the reason why, I'd probably turn this thread into a flame war, so I'll just leave it at that.

Maybe a button to approve or disprove someones post depening on how informative it is and adding a small comment beside it on what you think of it that only the poster can see , Course it wouldn't be used for general banter.

The Minecraft forums have a little thing where you can +1 a thread. Though all it does is cause ego wars and rep begging. Plus Phpbb doesn't have any functionality like that.

If that were a feature, there would be a rather large potential for users to abuse it. Personal vendettas, new users who aren't up with the rules, users looking for an ego boost.

The idea is noble, but not exactly practical, IMHO.

We've cultivated such an excellent community here over the years based on eloquence and respect. I think adding a button that people can carelessly click just to hate and/or love would completely ruin everything that I enjoy about the UESP. /pompous, but it won't happen. Sorry.

???? What I suggested were not hindering at all for the page loading. The Paradox forums load quickly, actually. The little things I was talking about are smaller than our smilies. :arrow:

He was referencing to our signatures, and how they don't want them getting any bigger.
