Who do I have to cast charm on around here to get PM privileges? Or am I just too slow to realize how to do it? :?

What's happening is that you have not been added to the 'confirmed users' usergroup. A mod can do this for you, but it is automatically done after 7 days and 10 'counted' posts (those in any of the Game Boards bar TES General and Skyrim, i.e. none of the General Forums 'count', nor do Skyrim posts).

The rules might also be worth a check, as they mention it in greater depth.

Hope that helps.

Ugh Skyrim and General posts don't count? Cuz that's where I have been posting, that is a bit unfair. Such is life.

Skyrim is uncounted because the game isn't released yet, therefore posts there don't contribute to anything yet.

Same goes for General Banter. Though no one really should care about post count.

I guess that's just the way the Forums roll. Skyrim posts will count when the game comes out, but I think the issue is people spamming the Skyrim Forums.

Anyway, just let me know if you need any more help. I'll talk to a Moderator for you if you don't get confirmed soon.

QFT. Bloody well true. I'd add that to my sig if it weren't over-full.

If we aren't granted PM abilities upon signing up why does everyone welcome new users with a "PM me if you have questions!" Seems like some odd inner forum sick joke to me... (recalls OD's welcome to myself as a new user  )

Spiney, post count means little to me but when I'm told to pm someone if I need help and I need 10 posts to get a Mod to pay attention and grant pm ability... ya know... wtf lol

I understand about Skyrim not being released and all so I do agree to a point on that one. And then there is the whole spammers and trolls issue that comes along with forums.

Btw Spiney, Love the avatar and sig! :P

I assure you it's no joke, normally the mods confirm everyone who posts in the Welcomes and Goodbyes, as soon as they check the thread, which is why we direct people there. I don't know why you weren't, but no harm done hey?

Yes the system is a little confusing, but it's all part of the anti-spambot defences the site has, and unfortunately the spambots are an ever-present threat.

Cheers. But I do think the rules state, that you can go to the usergroups tab in the UCP and request to join the 'Confirmed Users' group yourself, and you'll be automatically accepted.

I requested to join when i signed up and have yet to be accepted. Don't know why, maybe its my username and whoever is in charge of that just dislikes my race of choice lol. This is just a joke and not meant as an offense to any mods.

Heres an issue I am having at the moment tho, trying to post in the thread I made about Skyrim PC specs. I want to get some input on possibly building a pc and would like to ask about some pre built desktops but get this message when attempting to insert a link.

You are not authorized to post non-Elder Scrolls URL links, please remove or rename: X

As I do not want to step out of the forums rules, is this just something that comes with being accepted to the usergroup? Or is non TES links just generally off limits? I do not recall reading about this in the rules, I'll go back now and skim thru to see if i can find something. Thought maybe asking would get me there faster.

It's only for unconfirmed users, so don't sweat about it. Just on your issue, another user, ArgonianDunmer was having issues. It seems you both applied to join the confirmed user group, so maybe the problem lies there. It could be that the application makes you appear as a member of the group to the Admin/Mods, even though you aren't fully a member. I know that it does add you to the group, as an 'awaiting approval' user, from experience with the ACP in other regions of the web, but an Admin or user with Admin powers does need to 'approve' you, if that makes sense. May be that this is the issue.

Thank you again Duruza, as usual you assist in a timely and well informed manner. Ever thought about applying for a Mod position? lol

Not a problem, I'm here to help out. I'll talk to one of the Mods and see if we can't get you confirmed. I'm off to bed now though, so I'll let you know via this thread of any new developments.

Post subject:  Re: Someone help?

There have been some problems with this, and I suspect it's nothing we can handle. We'll have to move up to the admins if all else fails. I notice that we don't currently have the latest forum software installed, but to be frank, that shouldn't mean anything. In the meantime, I seem to be the only one who can actually confirm other users - Andere said that he couldn't and I haven't heard from the others. General?

I think we should probably keep this topic open, but move it to the Site section. Which I can't do from my phone. Anyone?

I've been confirming users for a while. I'll move it.

Just as a guess, when Ratwar changed a few things to fix polls and the layout, could he have possibly broken the auto-confirm?
