I have specifically noticed something about this site. Was there, at any point, the possibility of creating usergroups for the person, as in, a collection of friends in one group? Rather than things like Moderators and Admin (which are obviously essential).

I believe that if users are actually able to make their own mini usergroups, it would actually help. This could mean a group of friends who specialise in, say, in-game bugs, they can all follow the same posts and help out accordingly.

I would like to see some posts, as I believe this could be an interesting idea. Whether or not it's applicable or not, however, is a different matter.

I did ask about this possibility once before, as a sort of 'on the side idea that popped into my head', in regards to the UESP Great Houses (basically, for ease of Private Messaging, etc.), but the thing is, the Mod Team don't have the Admin permissions to be creating new groups (from what I understand - it differs from Forum to Forum), so they'd need to get one of our fairly busy Admin staff to do it, and it might not be the most practical option.

I think talks about a 'Welcoming Committee' also occurred at one time, but I think it was basically decided that a special usergroup wasn't necessary, and I think we were all happy with that conclusion as it was.

It has the potential to be a good idea though, I've seen it done well on other Forums. Interesting thought.

I honestly just think it's easier for people to answer the questions they know. I've learned to live with the whole 'great houses' groups, the people seem to have fun in them so meh, but I don't see the necessity of groups for heling out.

If the people in those groups wanted to help people, then they can help people, there is no need to give them a title. You would get people who join up and look at the groups and then feel not part of the inner circle... they could be utterly useless, but you can't deny them access to your group because that's not how things work around here and I hope they never do. Elitism and all that, I despise it.

When I thought about it, I did also think about the actual application and, unfortunately, I think the whole 'elitism' thing will appear in some groups, and it seems stupid to somehow moderate that...since it all depends on the moderators view of elitism.

Of course, on top of that, the admin will have to sort EVERY group out individually so there would be a time issue at the same time...all sorts of things could go wrong with this.

If it ever happens, it could be a test...just to see what DOES happen.

As such, there really isn't a need for it at the moment on the UESP. There isn't really a 'group' that might need its own usergroup. The focus of the Forums doesn't really require it as such. Personally, I wouldn't be as worried about elitism as actually finding an entirely practical use. I don't think many people on the Forums at present would be prone to not including others who wished to be a part of anything they did, I think everyone is pretty friendly.

I think sigs are a good enough place for this.

(Granted they don't take up too much space)
