I was using UESP for a long time, and then one day, about a year ago, I noticed a Forum for it, I only got around to joining this month.I've been lurking since I found it, watching your Conversations In General and such>.>

Completely by accident. I've been an anonymous regular on the UESPW since late 2008, but only discovered the forums in '11. I clicked on something I'd googled and suddenly I was in the forum. "What in the hell is this?" were my exact thoughts. And soon I began my legacy of annoying rainbow posts and smiley spamming.

Huzzah, someone has asked the question I've been meaning to ask.

I was looking for information on Oblivion a couple of years ago and stumbled across UESP but never looked at the forum then. When I hear that Skyrim was coming out I was desperately hunting for any info I could find on it and UESP was one of the sites I came back to. I clicked the link to the forum by mistake and had a quick browse then I kept coming back, eventually I got so fed up about not being able to vote in the poles that I joined. I mostly stayed in the Skyrim sub-forums at first but eventually took the plunge and tried the general banter section where I happily float around on the outskirts being old and grumpy and foolish.

I still wonder what the hell is going on here at times.

2009, I got Oblivion, and had a doubt.
Wiki didn't Have the solution, so i asked very very timidly on the forum.
Figured, i should stick around, since i might have more.
Stuck around for a looong time. Didn't become active and post normally till a year later.

As for the question? It was a dumbass one about why my Spellsword's magicka wasn't high enough for spells when I wasn't increasing my intelligence..

I was looking for help with Morrowind in 2004. I've only been a member since November of last year though, because incase you didn't know Skyrim was huge.

I had a problem in Morrowind. Beforehand, I was already using UESP for help, and so I searched for a forum on here. Found one, so I joined. Maybe one of the best choices of my... life.

I was fairly active in the UESP wiki, but I edited articles anonymously. After my horrible experience with another and wholly unrelated website, I went this route to ensure that my ego would never be a factor in my work— a mistake I had seen so many others succumb to.

Alas, I locked horns once too many with the named and established royalty of UESP and finally decided that I had to register, for no other reason than giving everyone an actual name they could curse me by.

Three seconds after registering, I looked over at the sidebar and saw the link to 'Forums'. So I said, "Ah, what the hey..." and clicked the link.

Oh my, one gets nostalgic here... Good topic, can't say I really remember - the opposite problem to Mr. Cohen's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Is9Q3PZ9lQ.

Anyway, I was crazy with Morrowind, and my hunt for mods led me to Planet Elder Scrolls, and then I ended up in UESP. I had a history in modding another game, in a very competitive society, and UESP just felt very warm, co-operative and supporting. I was sold, altogether. To apologize, I don't always have that warm a heart but, the ones you love the most are the ones you fight the most.

I used the Wiki alot for Oblivion, then one day thought I'd read the forums to check for more information, and noted a lack of sarcasm and general [censored] here, so I stayed.

Edit: D-ouche-baggery is censored? WTF?

Yeah, the moon has its dark side. Being a nice and neat and safe and even child safe site, UESP has a policy of being precisely that. Foul words, whatever that may be, are restricted. You know, it's give or take, or give and take.

Not trying to step on moderators' toes, just giving an opinion. :)

Honestly, I like the language censor. It makes you actually use other words to express yourself with.

I used the wiki for a while, for help with my games. Then I figured out it had forums! I hopped on and bam.

Hmm. Who really knows. I mean I know how I found the forums. But no clue about UESP. I found the forums just by clicking the "forums" button on the left of the screen. I don't know how I really got started posting though, because I didn't post in welcomes and goodbyes until later.

GOTY Morrowind for Xbox. That's what got me to UESP. I played that game for countless hours, never once touching the main quest. Used Google (or was it Alta-Vista?) to search for tips on the game. UESP was one of the places I found. Continued to use UESP exclusively for Oblivion. When Skyrim came out I started editing the wiki anonymously. On a whim I clicked the "Forum" link and found the Skyrim sub-forum. The rest is history.

I found them when I noticed that little "forums" button, and after introducing myself and totally embarrassing myself in front of the man with the most posts, and being present for the great war of the General Discussion Thread, I was integrated into the community.

I've been using the Wiki for years. Only recently did I notice "Oh, there's a forum." So I joined.

Originally it was just because I wanted to discuss Morrowind with others and found the site through google after searching some things about the game. The forum back then had a completely different group of members in the General section, funny how different this place is now.

I'm nowhere near as active as I use to be, but then I'm a busier bee these days.

I've been using the forums since like 06 or so, to supplement the wiki, but finally joined in early 08 to answer a riddle in the Morrowind Trivia thread. I'd been using the Wiki for even longer and don't actually remember how I found the forums since it was so long ago now.

I got obsessed with the Elder Scrolls series from Oblivion, which I saw first at a friend's house, and automatically fell in love with it. It wasn't long before I knew everything that could be learnt directly in-game, but wanted to know all the lore behind it etc. I looked at the generic "Wikia" pages, but they just didn't seem as in-depth as the lore sections here. It wasn't long before I joined the wiki side of it, and then joined the forums themselves :D

I remember a thread of yours, about Daedra respawns in Morrowind  They grow up so fast..

I just looked at that thread after you mentioned it... it appears you were the first person to ever reply to me on here. Then I think you disappeared for like a half a year or more.

I also noticed I used a lot of smilies back then... won't see me doing that now.

What with you having died inside.

Never used any smilies since......2009-2010.

I think an interesting continuation of this thread would be say what was your initial reaction to the member base at the time?

Liar caught, because:

My first year, I didn't talk to anyone even remotely openly,
And second, I wasn't aware there was a general section till about 4 months in.

I think he meant that as a general statement, not a General statement. ;)

Your can also be plural.

ie. "Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears."
