Kidding aside, no, there isn't a post count requirement. Of course, a higher post count tends to indicate that you spend more time and are more active, so mods will usually have fairly high post counts, but it's not a matter of needing 5000 posts before you will be considered.

I can't help but feel I aught to be offended in some way :P.

I think people don't always appreciate (perhaps because they don't often get to observe it for themselves) that the majority of a Moderator's work is behind the scenes, tinkering away in the MCP and ACP or their own Inbox; banning spambots, addressing reports, sending PMs, all that jazz. Oh, and strip poker in the Mod Forum .

For some reason they did away with strip poker once I joined. :|

I just noticed that the TPM group is open- people can apply to join.
What happens if you do? Do you get rejected? Or accepted?

Doesn't make a difference.

In the past we haven't actually used the application process, but it is worth visiting in the future. I was going to clear out all the old applications and think about starting fresh, but I'll most certainly let everyone know if that's something we decide to do.

What can a Green do that a TPM can't?

Primarily it has to do with banning; Tea Party Moderators are really Greenies-in-training, so we try not to bog them down with the worries of banning until they develop their own moderator intuition. Otherwise, TPMs are restricted to only the General subforums and have no power elsewhere, whereas a Global Moderator has moderator abilities (like moving, editing, and locking topics) in every subforum.

A somewhat related question, do you Globals have limited Admin powers, or just the generic GM power and permission set for phpBB. I mean, can you manage the Forums, etc. or do you need an Admin every time you want to make changes, like adding new Forums or changing Forum permissions? (keeping in mind that not all our Globals are simple GMs)

Global moderators can really only edit (mess around with) posts/threads and users. In order to change the actual forum or change forum permissions, we have to get an admin. Luckily, Avron is an admin and she's always closeby.

Hi! I am a UESPF Moderator and you can PM me with any concerns you have, no matter how trivial. You can also use the report button - a feature that draws attention to a certain post and allows us to offer our own input.

Can a moderator on the wiki be a moderator on the forums as well? If so, do they get a special color and name?

"Moderators" on the Wiki aren't called Moderators, and their hierarchy is a little different than ours, but I don't think we would exclude a Wiki Admin/Patroller/Blocker from being a forum Moderator simply because they were on the Wiki. We love our Wiki brothers and sisters! :D

As far as color goes, on the forum they would probably have the same color as any other Moderator.

I have a question that has been biting me>_> whenever I can, I do try to politely try and keep people on topic in some threads or offer advise>_< but all the while staying in my place. I don't want some threads locked or see people get yelled at >:
The mods use the green text for quick warnings, and people listen from the combination of who's saying it and the color.
I'm asking.. is it appropriate for a user to use the green text in their friendly advise in the attempt of helping?
I hope my heart is in the rite place <_<

I would say that posting in green would be sending the wrong message, but bolded text gets the message across well. As well, you can report the topic so we come and take a look at it. ;)

I know I can report>_< but for minor things I have tried helping somewhat >: namely because I don't like troubling the mods because I know how much work there is at times... I think in one of the threads I was commenting to a newer user how it's unneeded to quote every little thing and tried addressing such to Avron's one thread >_< but when things do go against rules or its overstepping bounds, I do take note to stand back and report<_<
I was just asking because I don't want to be back-seating or anything. I myself know that every now and then I slip up.. nobody is perfect
After all >_> I'm still new after all and learning by bits. Just curious and wanting to be nice

I think friendly reminders are fine. I did that before I was a mod, but the green and pink text should be reserved for actual moderators. It lets people know that we mean business. As Eltee said, you can bold text if you want, but using mod colors doesn't help much when there's no power behind the statement.

The report button can be used as much as you want. It's actually very helpful for us when we have a lot of reports. It lets us see things that require our attention quickly without having to wade through several hundred threads a day. So use it! :D

Woops  thought I replied.. but yea I think I was focusing on the friendly reminders. Anyways, thanks Mm  will do. I've actually been keeping an eye on some hot topic threads. I don't want to jump in and become butter on a frying pan>_< watching out if things get bad and ready to press the button.. I have been thinking of creating a new thread to ease one of the tensions and maybe help with the off topic trend...<_< I do try and look out for my peers and superiors but that's just beta

If I could just chime in briefly, sending a PM to another user can also be a beneficial way of dealing with problems like you seem to be alluding to, in the case where it's a specific user who is doing something you find objectionable. You might even find that whatever it is that they are doing is unintentional, and you might grow to know each other better too.

Secret rituals mainly. The candidates all go through several trials including testing their tolerance for pain and abuse. We lock them in a room with a puma, their hands tied behind their backs and don't let them out until they have subdued the animal using only their voice. We then desensitize them using mind control techniques we learned from watching LOST and finally paint them pink and let them loose into the General section of the forums.
