First of all, just watched Ep 1 of Day 5 myself and it is pretty great. Reminds me a bit of when I used to like The Walking Dead. A small group of people out to survive after the end of the world. Gonna proceed to watch the other episodes, since the first one was solid.

Second, I'm in this week's episode of AHWU. Well, along with thousands of other RTX fans, but you can actually see my face in the sea of people. We were waiting in line for the RT podcast panel and someone wanted to do an AHWU intro, so he got everyone involved. At 8:04 in the video, look for the guy to the right of the screen with the blue/green hair. I'm to the left of him a few people back. Alternatively, you can look at the pic below, but it's a crappy screen grab. Still kinda fun to be in an AH video. Might potentially be in a Slow Mo Guys video soon as well, though you won't be able to see me at all. It'll make more sense if it comes out.

So the current rvb season has been particularly interesting, most notably the most recent episode. I just love the vibe and look.. Does anybody else get a Borderlands feel from it?

I know, that new one was pretty rad. And you're right, it does remind me of Borderlands! I wasn't sure what to expect at the beginning, but as soon I realized who it was about, I was in. "Interesting" definitely captures S14 so far; not every episode has been a full-marks hit, but it's all been pretty solid and I'm loving the variety of takes on the series. It's like when webcomics do a "guest comic week" while the author is on vacation or taking a rest.

I wasn't expecting Christoper Sabat to show up and voice Cyrus. That was pretty cool.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a season devoted to mini-arcs. Mostly since I was eagerly awaiting to see what would happen next on the Chorus Arc. I've been pleasantly surprised, keep it up RT!

I have high hopes! The main characters' new looks are great, and will definitely reinforce the idea that we've entered a new phase of the story. Speaking of which, I'm excited about the fact that I have no idea where the plot goes from here. I'm thinking Yang's upcoming arc will be particularly interesting.

Me! :D
I'm hoping to get a Yang cosplay done in time for a con next month.

The preview looks great, and I'm looking forward to seeing where each of these story arcs go.

(Anyone played the RWBY game? I enjoy it, though I haven't really played past the bit early access had. I got the Team JNPR DLC, eager to try that out and see their different playstyles/fighting styles. Might do that yet tonight, in fact.)

So the RWBY volume 4 premiere resulted in Roosterteeth's site being brought down, despite them getting server upgrades (and being at "four times the firepower" they were at in the vol 3 finale.)

It's currently rescheduled to 3pm.

Not 3pm anymore! ;) Enjoy. Well, if you're a sponsor that is. Those of us who aren't get to enjoy the agonizing wait 'till tomorrow! (I miss the days when it was just an extra 2 hours...)

Same. I'm impatient enough that I started doing the subscriber thing at the end of the last volume. xD

My reaction to/thoughts on the episode:
Spoiler:
- It'll take a little bit to get used to the characters' somewhat different appearances, but the animation has improved so much!
- New characters! Looking forward to meeting them all.
- It's weird to see Cinder like this
- Who's the random farm boy?
- Jaune with the red sash and Pyrra's circlet. Awwww.
- Too bad we didn't see Blake and Yang, but they can only fit so much into an episode, and it was already 20 minutes long.

Also apparently the guy who does the voice of Cicero in Skyrim is the voice of a new character (one who seems pretty similar in personality, heh.)

Thoughts on Vol. 4, Episode 1.

Spoiler:
Am I the only one that's pretty mad we traded out the magnificence that was Torchwick for some of the villains on Salem's little council? I can't say I dislike this pish-posh aristocrat guy, especially as a foil to cinder, but this Tyrion dude (Cicero's VA) is really bugging me. The cackle-y types usually do. He really makes me miss my boy Roman.

No thoughts to the burly guy; I'm holding out hope for a tragic villain on our ensemble, but I suspect we'll have to wait on that.

Also, the [&@%!] do you mean "killed Ozpin"? :c

The little boy on the farm reminds me of the previous Fall maiden. I'm calling a younger brother, holding out for revenge, or something like that.

Other than that, really digging what I've seen so far. Could have used more exposition, but there's only so much you can fit in one episode. Hope I can get as much out of this free First membership as I can.

Spoiler:
I'm still holding out hope that Torchwick is still alive, to much his own surprise >_> Be nice to add a bit of tragedy to his line if work.. Denied a certain death or freedom at the expense of being a pawn to the Grimm

I just really want that glorious [&@%!] back ;-;

So, my Yang cosplay's coming along pretty well. Pretty much all I have left to do is the jacket, which I'm pretty nervous about since the con is Friday and I've never sewed anything that complicated (the skirt was hard enough!) and the instructions for the jacket pattern are confusing. It's basically the last thing, though: if I have time I'll do the pouch on her belt, but that's it. And style the wig but that won't take long I don't think.

Here's a few of the pieces:

All in all, that's pretty awesome Alarra. (Well, minus nip pick accuracy, but I'll hand you some leisure) I can't wait to the finished results :D

I wished I could cosplay RWBY, ot cosplay at all :( I could pull off a [&@%!]' Oobleck.. BC seriously

I went to a con this weekend, got to get my dvd signed by Arryn Zech. She complimented my cosplay and I asked her what her favorite Blake line was; she said she didn't really have one but she did the "It's heiress, actually" line. She also gave me permission to film the Q&A later (the panel's description made it sound like she was answering questions in-character, but it was just a normal Q&A - still interesting, though): I'm thinking of uploading it to YouTube.

Later on she happened to be walking past the room where we were doing the RWBY cosplay meetup, and she happily walked in and took a picture with all the Blakes. She seemed really excited and overwhelmed by all the cosplayers; it was pretty neat.

So, here's how my cosplay turned out. I pulled an all-nighter to get the jacket done, and while it's not perfect, it's pretty good considering how complicated it was and that I was basically just doing my own thing and winging it since the instructions in the pattern I bought were not clear whatsoever.

Yeah. Thoughts below.

Spoiler:
I'm like, simultaneously disappointed yet very pleased with how everything turned out.

While it's a little odd for the story rhythm to get so slow after the blowout that was Season 3 (I imagine people watching this volume in the future and then immediately watching volume 4 afterwards might feel a little jarred by the sudden drop in pace), I think it's kind of what the season needed in a way. I'm super glad that JNPR (Well, JNR) got some solid development, especially since Ren and Nora were really more or less background characters instead of full-blown support characters like Jaune and Pyrrha.

That being said, I had a few reservations overall. I don't think that the season utilized Jaune very well. I think he is seriously one of the most well written characters in the series, and we barely got to see how he is dealing with Pyrrha this season outside of a few instances. Plus, I feel that considering the amount of questions left after season 3, we didn't get plot twists of sufficient magnitude to amplify the losses in Season 3. How about finally confirming that Ozpin is the Wizard from the tale of the 4 maidens like we're all thinking? Maybe confirming the identity of another one of the 4 maidens? Something like that. Outlining the overall goal of the villains was neat, but I think there's far more to it than what they presented as a fairly conventional good vs. evil struggle.

Plus, I really think this volume, moreso than the other 3, suffers from a 15 minute episode length. If you're going to have multiple storylines running concurrently instead of just focusing on RWBY with a dash of JNPR on the side, then you need more than 15 minutes of screentime. I think Blake was especially screwed over by the episode length in the season this time around.

I'm also finding the fights in this volume weren't particularly as memorable as some of the others in the past seasons (like when they fought the Nevermore in season 1... Mmmph). However, I make an exception for Qrow/RNJR vs. Tyrian. That was one of the most solid battles I've seen on the show, and might possibly be my favorite thus far. Much as I hate his voice actor as a person, I can't help but adore Qrow. I LOVE when he gets solid screentime and gets to show off.

I don't mean to sound like I hated the volume though. I think the series needed a slowing of pace after Season 3. The bad guys won, and the heroes have to recover. I just think that if you're going to have so many storylines going on at once, you need to dedicate more time to them. More episodes, or longer episodes.
