Give Dead Fantasy a watch too. That series is the main reason why I know of Monty's work, and of Rooster Teeth in general.

I actually found out about Monty from those videos.

Tonight was the first time I think I've ever watched the Podcast live (I usually listen to the audio during my drive) and it was extremely touching. Gus, Burnie, Matt, and Gray talking about Monty and reflecting on fond memories and then at the end they had a wonderful tribute video.

I don't usually watch them live either, but today i just felt like i needed to watch it live. The tribute video was very touching.

I couldn't watch it live, wasn't able to access it. I'll be sure to watch it when they put it up later

EDIT: Here's the video if you didn't get to see the livecast.

As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.

What do you guys intend to do? Monty was one of the most dedicated workers at RT, I remember hearing him described as the kind of person who would hit 55 seconds on a microwave instead of one minute due to it being quicker, just so he could go back to work that much sooner. If you have any projects you've been putting off, now is a good time to return to them with the same gusto Monty would have shown them.

At the time I heard the news, I was working on the novel that I'm writing, and considering the fact that I was on the Internet and able to hear the news, I evidently wasn't really focusing on it too hard at that particular moment. After reading about his passing, I immediately went back and wrote two pages straight up.

When they first announced that he was hospitalized, I don't think the sentence "unlikely to recover" really sunk in with me. So, yesterday's announcement came to me as a pretty big shock. When it's somebody you knew through their work but didn't know in person, it's harder to come around to the fact that they're actually gone. But because of his work, I suppose, in that way he never really will be gone. It's a shame he never got to finish more seasons of RWBY and get to all the other projects that I'm sure he had planned, but it's better to focus on the things he did create instead. And he created some pretty awesome stuff.

I'm not quite ready to write the ideas I have into a novel just yet. Still, in the spirit of getting off my ass and working on something that hasn't been touched, in Monty's memory, I've wrote up 3 chapters to the continuation of the Fire Emblem RP that I had started and never got to finish.

It's weird, man. I knew who Monty was from Dead Fantasy but that was about it. I had never put together that he was the guy who did RWBY (which I have yet to watch) and the fact that his death hit me this hard and made me want to work harder to finish [&@%!] is kind of surprising to say the least.

I think it's something he could be proud of. It's only been a day and yet I've seen a lot of people go off to create things, whether it be novels, or RWBY fanart, or tribute videos, or whatever. Without our imaginations the world would be a dismal place, and I'm thankful we have people like Monty that can inspire that even after they're gone.

I knew of Monty through RT, and while I liked RWBY, it wasn't my favorite thing in the world. Same with his animation in RvB. I thought it was awesome animation, really cool stuff, and some great fight scenes, but I liked my RvB the way it had been. I'm genuinely sad about his passing because he was clearly so talented and contributed to work that I really enjoyed. I don't want it to come across that I am being callous about his passing, but his death affected me more because of the way it affected the rest of RT. Seeing Burnie and Gus, two faces and voices that I have come to know as these constant upbeat presences, come close to tears last night was really hard for me. The same with the tweets and journals put out by other RT and AH staff. These are people that provide me with countless hours of entertainment every week, every day, and to see them breakdown like that made me feel strongly for them. The tribute video was extremely touching, but it wasn't solely because it was about Monty, but it was because it was so well done and moving, that it made me realize how loved he was, and how loving RT is to it's staff. And to know that they had to work through the pain and put that together, that Meg was crying while reporting the story, those things affect me.

New York Times has a pretty good article about Monty and how he affected so many people. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/05/arts/ ... .html?_r=0

One thing of note in it is that they've said that they're continuing RWBY. That's what Monty would have wanted, to see his pet project continue.

[&@%!] me. I'm so out of the loop, and so caught up in classes, that I didn't even realize RvB13 had started today. Haven't watched the episode yet because, and I feel ashamed to admit it, I don't quite remember what happened last season. I'll probably binge this weekend to gain a refresher and then go start in on this season.

I'm still on top of things as far as RvB goes, but I've virtually stopped watching all of RT's videos as they come into my sub box on YouTube, whether AH or no. I simply can't bring myself to sit down for a 35+ -minute video, and even with the short-length videos I just don't feel the urge to watch them any more; I always feel like I have something better to do, which for all intents and purposes is usually true, so it has actually helped me become more productive.

However, RvB gets a special pass (and let's be honest, it still would even if the episodes were an hour long). As a non-sponsor, I'm getting hyped to watch it this afternoon/evening. SEASON 13 LET'S GOOOO!!!

If RvB episodes were now an hour long...

Why can't we live in THAT universe?

Well, you could always just think about RvB as a single season of thirteen 1.5-hour-long episodes.

So, they finally made The Strangerhood Season 2 - and it is absolutely terrible, in the best way possible. It's pretty much a parody of itself. Which is fitting, in a way, for the process by which it came about (and probably the amount of work that was actually put into it, as well).

Anyone still watching RWBY? If you didn't like it or aren't certain of it, I recommend trying volume 3. The first two really were more about establishing characters and worldbuilding; now volume 3, especially around ep 6, is where the plot kicks into high gear. It has been amazing and blown all our expectations out of the water, and has been a series of complete game-changing episodes, and is getting darker (they've actually put out a notice saying that they know kids watch it so parents might want to watch episodes first.)

The episode released today has possibly been the best. SO MUCH happened in it.

I haven't watched RWBY, but being a fan of Monty's works for years I REALLY need to start.

Yep, I've been watching it, albeit intermittently due to my relatively busy schedule. Your post reminded me to watch Episode 10, but a slow Internet connection made it difficult. After I get back from the vacation I'm currently on, I'll watch the rest of it (and by then Episode 11 will be available to watch for me too! That's the one you're talking about in your post as 'possibly...the best', right?). Volume 3 has definitely been a ride so far, and I'm sure Monty would be proud of how good it's been!

^ Yup, Episode 11 is the one I meant. I became a sponsor during vol 3 because I got too impatient to wait for episodes, lol.

Theory:
Spoiler:
I suspect that there's a "wizard" role that gets passed down in addition to the "maiden" role, and that Ozpin is the one currently in that role.

I know, right? I can't believe that
Spoiler:
Pyrrha's dead. I feel like they could've done so much more with her character, and honestly I really would've liked to see what would've happened if she'd actually received her half of the Fall Maiden's power.

Also, why did they have to kill off Roman Torchwick? He was my favourite villain! Cinder just [&@%!] me off with her constant smugness, but Roman managed to be equally smug yet have the opposite effect. He made evil look cool.

Overall, though, this was an amazing end to the season, and a great lead-in to a more serious part of the story. We've definitely crossed a threshold in a huge way; this feels like an "End of Act 1" sort of thing. Now things are really going to get interesting.

Spoiler:
I somehow feel Torchwik will survive, one way or another <_< he certainly was a fan favorite, much unlike Cinder. I mean, look at agent K from Men in Black, proving that being swallowed whole isnt all that bad.

As for Pyrra.. It was really sad to see her go. At least Penny has some reasonable chance to return, seeing as shes artificial. But Pyrra? Nothing but ash in the winds :( There was so much lost potential with her, more development for a beloved character.. but I guess her fate was needed to send a much needed change in direction

Anyways, that teaser for this new antagonist. Me thinks she has something to do with the Grimm.. a god maybe? Or something on par with the Wizard n Maidens?.

So, I just started watching RWBY. My girlfriend has been holding my hand through the ordeal cause she's a series vet.

I'm currently at Volume 2, Chapter 8 (Field Trip) and am currently taking a break. This show is killing me in a good way. My overall reaction is thus;

That's rad, scrib! I've still never had a chance to go, and I don't think I'll be able to until after I've finished my degree (I'll be either in school or working a full-time co-op for every summer until 2020), but enough of my whining; have you looked into the events/exhibitors/panels at all? And if so, are there any for which you're particularly excited?

That sucks, hopefully one summer soon you'll be able to attend. I actually spent the afternoon with my brother deciding which panels we wanted to try to see so that we could determine which signing session to attend. We got a code each for a ticket to a signing session, so we ranked who wanted to meet and based on our top choices and availability are going to sign up for the Matt Hullum and Burnie signing. Sarge is my all time favorite character and the reason I am such a big fan, so I would love to meet Matt. Burnie is who I equate with being the face of Rooster Teeth, so it's perfect. Would have loved to do an AH signing as well, but hopefully we'll run into the guys somewhere. As far as panels, we are planning on making it to the AH, Lazer Team, Heroes and Halfwits, RT Podcast, and Off Topic panels. If we can make it work, we are going to try to get into Immersion, RvB, and Slow Mo Guys. But scheduling makes it hard to know right now.

So RT has a new animated show called Camp Camp.. two episodes in... I love it. Seriously that 2nd episode had me laughing harder than I had in months. It's cheery, rude, and good ole RT quality. Seriously, if you haven't watch this yet, just do yourself a favor
Camp Camp EP2:
Viewer discretion advised. Explicit language and cartoon violence. This is from RT, what did you expect
Spoiler:
Also, a bit of word on their new live action show Day 5. I have yet to actually watch the premier episode.. I've seen all the promos but I don't know why I'm scared to click play.. Maybe it's just the subject of show :/ genuinely, for someone who loves and even laughs at horror genre and emotional jabs.. this just sort of hits home with me >__< I'm crossed between RT fandom and love for the promos.. and that of an insomniac's hell on earth
Day 5:
Viewer discretion is adviced. Contains explicitly mature content. Watch at your own risk
Spoiler:
Tell me how it is :D while I still pounder over the play button
