I've found my playstyle. It might not be optimal, but bite me, it's fun. Baloth the Bladedancer; Real swords have curves.

Curved swords, curved greatswords, katanas. Small shields, if any. Bleed effects. Parrying. And lots and lots of rolling. It might sound insane, but I'm not super into shields. Avoiding being hit at all is a real test of skill, and I live (and die) for it. When a boss doesn't land a single blow on you, you know you're doing something right.

Oh, also miracles. Buffs and heals and [&@%!]. Throw some lightning around if I need range.

Also also, Covenants gaiz? ...[&@%!] the Warriors of Sunlight, honestly. Praaaise the...eat my balls. Blades of the Darkmoon, [&@%!]. Defenders of the blue, enemies of the Aldrich Faithful. I dig it. ...I can also respect Watchdogs of Farron. Defending the dead. Plus, greatsword/dagger combo is cool. I got hunted down and killed by two Watchdog players, and I wasn't even mad, it was rad as [&@%!]. They even did Legion Etiquette over my corpse. That's how it's done.

Hows PvP btw? I recall in DS1 it could be down right abysmal given the playerbase.. and I was truly shocked to see a more friendlier, fair duel sort of playerbase when dealing with invasions. I mean, never in DS1 could I ask for a phantom to wait as ai cleared out a spot for a clean fight, let alone fight someone who took awayall the fun n skill for the cheapest kill

Granted, in DS1 I had to deal alot with invaders.. and by experience.. learned to use ambush tactics or hide away less they seemed like a fair battle. In DS2, I did alot of co-op summoning to help folks, but even then on the few accounts of an invader.. very rarely did we ever gank <_< ppl just seemed to be more honorable and fair. Maybe it had something to do with the arenas? The Dragon duels? Or maybe the threat of the Blues sometimes.. Idk. Just, generally less BS, more fun

I'm hoping DS3 is no different. You can still have some trolls, some sneaky killers, and there will always be certain builds that are just frustrating to fight. Maybe with the addition of the new covenant n their friend/foe mechanic.. multiplayer will be even more fun and interesting

My only pvp experience thus far was the aforementioned invasion of two Watchdogs. I was derping around the Road of Sacrifices, when AHH INVASION. Fellow with a greatsword, come to take me lucky charms. We danced the dance of life, and it was pretty much your standard PvP. ...Then I was invaded by a second Watchdog, and they chased me down and slaughtered me. But again, Legion Etiquette. They were bros about it.

I'm interested in the DLC for sure. Mainly for its PVP arena and new gear though.

I've never been a big fan of the PVP arenas, then again, the appeal for no gank squads is very strong

I heard this was also going to be a lore-focused DLC as well, so I'm really looking forward to that. Happy to hear about the PVP arena too, since setting up fight clubs in the Souls series can be a pain to co-ordinate at times.

Welcome to Gankamania!

That is what PVP in certain areas tend to evolve to. Arenas are more easy to gank up.

All the DLC is lore focused as far as i'm aware but i do hope they do an epic fight as worthy as Artorias. I admit, I've not played DS3 due to a lack of PS4 but from what i've seen(Awesome final boss), it should do an Artorias type fight. Just you vs it. No cheap tricks, no escape. Two hardened warriors fighting to the death. Hopefully, not a super artorias type fight where it's a combination of Artorias, Ornstein and Smough with a dash of Magnus. *shudders*

I do hope that when they do the complete edition, it is not a "complete but worthless once you have used the code and good luck if you lose access to your account." edition like Scholar of the first sin. I mean, why? Why do that? It costs the same amount to get from PSN. Why do that From? WHY!?

Uhh, PVP arenas never had the issue with ganks <_< that's largely BC the very concept fits both opponents on even ground(1v1, 2v2, free-4-all) Its actual matchmaking. Heck, the arenas are even in a neutral zone with no estus use on either side

Not to mention ganks really are only an issue for invaders.. And only in certain high traffic areas does the host ever risk facing multiple invaders(Like the area after Pontif) Thing is tho, With how DS3 prioritizes hosts with multiple summons(I.e you wanna gank? We'll send you more trouble), so if your being harassed by invaders >_> either stop ganking yourself, or if solo dont ember up, kill the boss and move on, or use items that reset invasion cooldowns. Hosts have no right to complain in DS3..

Still, DS3 needs to give some love for invaders ya know.. What with reduced health, less estus(pick one or the other, not both!), general difficulty with hosts being able to have 3 summons at once(so unless your a blood phantom or smart, good luck soloing them) and generally the meta lacking diversity in group pvp.. No love for the wicked </3

GOTY Edition. Nice.

Was that Quelana of Izalith speaking at 0:43? Or am I just... imagining things? :o

No, I believe it's one of the NPCs. Sounds like the Firekeeper, but I could be mistaken. It is certainly a line of dialogue in-game
