Feel free to post your top 5 games ever :mrgreen:! Some rules:

- When we have enough votes, I'll make a UESP top X all-time games, just for fun :D
- Feel free to add descriptions, sidenotes, URL's or whatever strikes your fancy :P
- Included are (if you wish!): standalone expansions, expansion packs, modifications, official plugins, downloadable content, etc. For example: voting for Oblivion means Oblivion + Shivering Isles + Knights of the Nine + all other DLC's + mods. Voting for Half-Life 2 means Half-Life 2 + Episode One + Episode Two (and some mods if you'd like). Feel free to make a sidenote of the mods you're using/really like.
- Game packs do not count. For example: The Orange Box, which includes Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. These are three seperate games (HL2+Episodes)!
- You may also post your top 6, top 7 etc, however only the first 5 games will count!
- You may revise your top 5 later on!

Good luck :mrgreen:

Removed my top 5 for... er... reconsideration :D.

That's the name of the Playstation port of Soul Edge. Call it by the true name, before I revenge you!

It's so tempting to just say "Morrowind" then lock the thread, but I bet someone would unlock it and spoil my fun... COSY.

Anyway...

1. Morrowind
This game shaped my love for gaming in general, and specifically RPGs. It's part of the reason why I love seeing little numbers go up, and it is friggin' beautiful. Anyone who says the graphics are bad smells and furthermore is silly.

2. Gotcha Force
This game... Just pure fun. I rekindled my love for it a couple of months ago, and the first time I played it, I just couldn't help grinning. I smile at the terrible dialogue, I laugh at the bad voice acting, and I cheer every time I finish a play so that I can watch the intro and ending again. Plus the game's pretty fun too.

3. Portal
Two of the best hours of my life. The writing is witty, clever, voiced by a brilliant voice actress, there's that epic feeling of acheivement, the atmosphere is great, the mechanic is new and interesting, and it has a song at the end written by one of my favourite musicians. It could only be better if it had three songs by TMBG and also made tea.

This is where it gets tricky. Those three games stand out from the rest because of how great they are. I've played a lot of games. I'm going to give my best estimate of what I reckon take numbers four and five, though this is subject to change within a day or so.

4. Team Fortress 2
For sheer replay value, with variety, you can't beat TF2.

5. The World Ends With You
It has badge based combat, a compelling story, clever use of the touch screen, combat based on FRIGGIN' BADGES and also Sho Minamoto, who has the scientifically proven best line in any game ever: "3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510" (or a few digits fewer)

I beg your doggily pardon, but my Playstation 1 and Wikipedia say otherwise.

Playstation 1 and Wikipedia wrote:

I quotes in ur general dyrecshun.

Well the European port was called that. Regardless, it's technically the wrong name and I'm a pedant, so there!

1. Kingdom Hearts 1 - It isn't really better than my other games, but I have a deep seeded emotional attachment to the game connected to a now deceased family member & friend R.I.P. Christopher Hopkins.
2. Morrowind - No explanation necessary
3. Mass Effect - Sci-fi adventure + huge amount of Lore = Amazing
4. Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time - The first game I played that wasn't a platformer or shooter.
5. Fable: The Lost Chapters - Brilliant game, but with so much more potential.

1. Garry's Mod
"Why," you ask, "did that hypocritical sack of pants 'ace' not pick and ES game for #1?!" Well, because I'm a hypocrite. Also, because I was wrong. Now, onto why I love this game. You can make it into anything you'd like. Wanna make an auto-turret? Try WireMod. Wanna RP? Join one of the hundreds of DarkRP servers. Or you can try the survival RP servers, too. Perhaps you've had a stressful day, and you want to drop something heavy onto a crowd of people's heads. The point is, this game has infinite gamemodes, as long as there are still people making them, which there will be for a LONG time.

2. Crysis + Crysis Warhead
This was one of my favorite single player games of all-time. The action was great, the graphics were, obviously, superb. The voice-acting was a bit iffy, but I've seen way worse. And the idea with that
Spoiler:
zero-gravity level was phenomenal!
The cliffhanger at the end made me want more :( Also, lots and lots of MODS! Well, can't wait for Crysis 2!

3. The Beatles: Rock Band
Y'know, I don't have to explain. Also, I scored 4 stars singing on "Yellow Submarine..." on HARD! :mrgreen:

4. GTAIII
This is here solely because it was my first video game EVAR! I even play it now and again, and I still haven't completed the campaign :oops:

5. TESIV: Oblivion
Yes, it did make the list. I like it for many of the same reasons most of you guys like it :mrgreen:

I like countdowns.

1. Oblivion + exps, if we're going by playtime (which I am. Best game!)
2. Unreal Tournament 2004, for the SHEER NUMBER OF MODS. WOW!
3. Fallout 3. I think you can imagine.
4. GTA IV. Why? I don't know. I just got addicted to it.
5. Populous: The Beginning. It's unfortunate that more people haven't heard of this amazing RTS.

Other games that didn't make it onto my prestigious list include UT99 (ten last week!) which I have played since I was five, Star Wars Battlefront, Mirror's Edge and one of my favourite games from when I was about eight, Roller Coaster Tycoon.

That is totally my number 6, and would be in the list if:
a) I remembered it
b) There was some kind of decent skirmish mode

1. Halo Series (my love increases as each game is released)
2. Myth II Soulblighter (the game that was given its own genra, Real time tactical was born from this seed. our community lives on... with about 500 active players playing this 12 year old game)
3. Oblivion GOTY and Morrowind Goty (its a tie... im sorry :mrgreen: )
4. Marathon (ancient bungie game from before most of you all were born)
5. James Bonds Nightfire (it was SUCH a great game)

Wow, somebody is a bungie fan...and Marathon before I was born? Pfaw! That was like the *only* game that existed for my friend to have on his Mac.

Picking a top 5 is hard! I've been playing games for like 25 years now, and its "top 5 games ever," so I gotta consider what the game meant then, rather than just what's current. Well, alright, I'll try...I'll try to pick based on the disproportionately high number of hours I spent playing that game.
1) Civilization IV
2) Ogre Battle (heavily underrated SNES game)
3) LoZ: Link's Awakening (cause I spent many hours trapped on a bus and this was my go-to)
4) Mario Kart 64 (yes, I like the N64 version)
5) World of Warcraft -- debated whether this made the list or not. There's a zillion pluses and minuses for this being here, but -- at least before the current expansion -- it was still a great game.

I still find it pretty fun riding off a skyscraper in a motorcycle with a gatling gun, taking 2 damage, and going under the map.

What's the thing with ranking games in any kind of special order? I just can't tell you my top 5 putting one game above other and under other. It's much easier to just tell you 5 of my favorite games.

If you insist, though, this will be highly inaccurate:

5. Age of Empires (series)
4. Fallout 3
3. Civilization IV
2. Portal
1. Oblivion

flower deserves an honorable mention.

Ah, lists. . . lists are almost irresistable. Apart from all the ones which are televised. Those lists are bad. Very bad. . .
To business, then:

* KOTOR
* Half-Life 2
* Morrowind
* Dreamweb
* S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl

Y'know what? Five games just isn't fair.. So here's a secret sixth one, which can be a sub for any of the above; Street Fighter IV.
