i went crazy collecting the figures as a kid.

i love the first Star Wars Battlefront by pandemic, my 2nd favorite game after elder scrolls, allows me to revisit that childhood at will.

do not care for the movies, even the originals, which i used to love, i will always dig the art design and sound effects, but they're too scrappily directed for me to appreciate them as movies now.

yeah, my opinion of the original movies has changed although Empire is imo a genuinely good film

revenge of the sith was getting there too, a few good scenes but let down by the sort of stuff Lucas could get away with when i was a kid

I am looking forward to the next three movies and think Disney is perfect for them, although I hope it keeps its distinct star wars flavour and doesn't get rebooted like trek (wouldn't suit it imo)

still have my star wars toys from 30 years ago.. cool

Starkiller was going to be Luke's last name.

Return of the Jedi holds a special place in my heart even though it's the worst of the original trilogy. My grandparents had it on VHS when I was growing up (along with Ewok Adventure) and I watched it at least once a week for a few years. It's interesting that as a kid I wasn't phased by not knowing the characters' background, I just liked the action and adventure.

Gotta say that Knights if the Old Republic was probably the only Star Wars thing that got everything right for me as far as tone and story.

Funny aside - Ewok Adventure was recorded from television, so the old 80s commercials were preserved. So cute.

I used to play Battlefront 1 on PS2 constantly. That game was the best.

Star Wars Christmas Special, anyone? No? ;)

I love Star Wars. I grew up reading this cool old pop-up book that belonged to my brother (14 years my elder), and I'm pretty sure one of my first dates with a guy involved seeing the "new" episodes. Good times.

I was alive when Return came out. I don't think I saw it in theaters (I was 2), but I did get some neat porcelain figures from my grandparents! Luke, Leia, Vader and the droids. Still have them right above my TV! I'll probably move them to my "studio" when I get ready to do my youtube videos just so I have cool stuff in the background. They'll go next to my Portal gun and samurai sword. :D

My first real exposure to Star Wars was the re-release in theaters of the original trilogy. Seeing them on the big screen was just so great. I remember my grandfather took me to all three, despite not liking sci-fi. He claimed he could put up with it for the chance to see "Carrie Fisher half-naked".

I suppose I should mention some music, being a music man and all.

Of course John Williams' original Star Wars theme is beautiful and instantly recognizable.

I think he outdid himself with Duel of the Fates. Great piece.

And then you have things like MC Chris' "Fett's Vette" that just take things to a whole new level. (warning, language)

Duel of the Fates is great, but for me, Binary Sunset is where it's at.

 That's pretty much my case as well, except replace grandfather with father (though he's clearly a star wars fan now though since he spends upwards of 6 hours a day playing SWTOR >.>)

That aside, my love of star wars is not bound to the movies, but rather to the EU books like Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy, "I, Jedi" or the Old Republic lore (KotoR, the darkhorse comics, etc.)

I couldn't be happier that Lucas sold the rights, but if Disney decides to completely ignore the decades of EU, authors writing and using the established lore from previous authors, I'll be sad.
Though I get the distinct feeling that the Chewie thing will be retconned anyway (And sadly destroying numerous books in the Vong War series, though some less of a tragedy than others)

Yeah, Disney's already said they're not using EU lore. That could be good, as I think some of the post-Empire era is a bit silly(Wookiee Jedis, anyone?), but on the other hand, they could end up making a total hash of it. Let's hope not.

Oh god.
Don't mention those again.

I think i really got into Star wars when I played KOTOR2. I've read and played and seen a million things since then.
I went to the star wars convention in London when we were there. I also own two replica lightsabers.

Weirdly. my first actual exposure to the movies, i was too little to get much.
So when talk was going around about Darth vader going to the dark side (Oh crap. I just realized I technically watched the original trilogy first.)
I thought It was the literal dark side. like the dark side of the planet they were flying over.
And i asked my sister "if it's so horrible, why didn't he just turn around?"

I think I was 5 or 4.

I'm one of the very rare few who liked the prequels better than the originals. I mean, I liked the originals, but I freaking loved the prequels.

Game wise? I've played a few. Some are okay, some are bad. None really stand out as super great games though.

I read an extended universe book (something about Darth Bane? Idk I heard it was one of the better books) and thought it was completely awful. Then out of curiosity, I looked across Wookiepedia to see what other stories the EC conjured up, and had a good laugh. Now me and my friends make fun of my other friend every time he brings up how he thinks the EC is awesome

But yeah I like Star Wars. Looking forward to the new trilogy.

I prefer the prequels over the originals, but the originals were good throughout while I felt the prequels had bad parts but very good parts. The lightsaber duels at the end of Revenge of the Sith were the best parts in the six movies for me.

Obi-Wan is my favourite character by far. Both portrayals of him are excellent.

I don't think that we have enough information on the coming movies to say whether they will be good or bad.

I hope that doesn't mean that they throw everything out the window, particularly for characters such as Exar Kun, who started out as post movies and got completely fleshed out in the Old Republic.
Thrawn is my limit, so long as they don't out say he didn't exist in canon
Though I would overlook it if they promised never to use Ewoks, gungans, and midichlorians >.>

Darth Bane: Path of Destruction was only interesting because its connection to lore (rule of two, ties to Darth Revan, Sith history, etc.), I wouldn't consider that good of a read though

I don't know if they'll stick to it, but the impression I got was that ALL of the EU was going completely out the window, and they're going to write the post-RotJ era from scratch.

Most recent Star Wars memorabilia purchase was "Dressing A Galaxy" artbook. If you like the costumes in I-III (especially Padme's) then it's a must have. Queen Apailana's costume is my favorite.

Can't wait to see Carrie back in the slave bikini again. :P

I, II and III were jokes. This new series looks like it will be a joke as well. Especially with JJ at the helm.

Well, in my opinion, as far as player characters go, Revan is the best. Not really because I could actually mold his character(unlike most stories, Star Wars character choice doesn't matter because history wise their is a canon). Even the canon Revan was a great character, and I would play him no other way(unless I feel a little badass at the moment :Twisted Evil: )
