Seeing as i've kinda hijacked General Discussion with Borderlands talk, this is now the thread for it. Rakks are banned and will be shot. Repeatly with a gun that shots lighting! Remember when you first got that [&@%!] pistol from Claptrap? No? Me neither. Also, Rakks are [&@%!] that do [&@%!] things by being annoying [&@%!]!

Could I use a laser shotgun or a butt slam instead?

That aside, I got most of the way through the second game, and know enough about the first and pre-sequel. I rage quit because some non-bad guy people (they ain't heroes, because this ain't no place for no hero) died that couldn't use the New-You system, which drove me nuts, alongside being generally bad at FPS's. (I'm never a fan of dramatic deaths in a world where resurrection is a thing.) As far as I got in it, it was really fun though.

You can use any gun apart from Hyperion as you will miss with a Hyperion gun. Remember, if it takes you more then one shot to kill something, buy a better gun!

I think the New U system is purely a gameplay mechanic to prevent frustration when you needed that one more second but ran out of time due to reloads. Reloading usually kills me when i'm in Second Wind mode. Also, i managed to break the game today by causing a bug that gave me unlimited ammo. I also happened to have an acid chaingun. I did quit to the menu as a precaution though as, A. it wasn't fair, B. Salvador +unlimited ammo + gunzerking = no challenge.

Also, those flying robots are annoying.

Idk about that Dov. While I typically dislike Hyperion guns, some are worth it, namely some of thier better types<_< I had a Corrosive Lady-Fist, even when outleveled it still wrecks those bots. There was also a talking sniper that was bloody great for long shots n a guilt trip

Hyperion was like my favorite brand in the first game and that's all I remember.

My Mechromancer is AAALLLLLLL about them Hyperion guns.

If I may self-indulge a bit, here's my dearest Raven, my main BL2 character.



Pictures are a little outdated. She's currently level 56, wields a legendary Conference Call shotgun (seriously BEST gun ever, god bless Hyperion), and recently two-manned Terramorphus with a friendly Siren that a friend of mine played. It was glorious.

She likes shocking her enemies to death, shooting indiscriminately at anything showing remote signs of hostility, and long romantic walks on the beach.

Personally, I just want to see someone go Gunzerker with two Banes. Shriek fear into the enemies heart, while wasting your clip trying to hit them.


My highest level character was Krieg, so I was used to dieing a lot. Loved killing people with the dynamite. Also got to hear every New U quote too many times to count. I dunno, I know why they have it, I just don't like inconsistencies in universes.

I discovered a very annoying thing today, quests can get blocked thus my level 17 dreadlocked Salavodor will be sent to the bin in favour of New Salavador. I pretty much hate Hyperion guns due to how awful the aiming is and i'll admit, i'm not the best shot. I flat out could not hit a damn thing with Shotgun 1340 unless i didn't aim. That said, i think i have discovered my perfect loadouts. Assault rifles/miniguns assault rifles and rocket launchers. Or Pistols. I always aim to get elemental weapons as shooting people with bullets is not as fun as shooting them with fire, electric,acid, slag. Also, i have the best weapon(so far in my game) which was a minigun rifle that did a lot of bonus acid damage. Just using that whilst gunzerking resulted in me either killing most of everything or missing but the Rockets always made up for it.

Or submachines guns. They are great for second wind. Shotguns are not and snipers are a death sentence. That said, i love putting down goliaths with an explosive rocket launcher that also had a spread of 3.

I will also pick up the GOTY edition when i can spare the cash.

Also, i think i may try to mold new Salavador into a very aggressive death machine that is regenerates health very quickly along with ammo and pretty much become the one [&@%!] off man with anger issues army.

As a gunzerker I would say you want Torgue weapons. As a mechromancer my accuracy decreases for a damage buff as I kill things anyway, so accuracy is never a concern: especially since 80% of my shots (and my shotgun shoots approximately 17 pellets each shot) ricochet back at enemies.

This means Hyperion is great for me because their special property is that they increase in accuracy as they are being fired.

Torgue weapons involve a LOT of explosions. And as a gunzerker, you can use your second weapon for TWICE the amount of explosions. Maliwan isn't too bad either, and I believe Tediore weapons are thrown like grenades when you reload, so that might be worth looking into as well.

I shall aim to.... oh god, i'm making puns about shooting. *gunzerks self somehow*

I'll keep that in mind and all hyperion tech may be treated as cash by me. That said, if i can get my hands on two minigun rifles, i am so going use them. Provided, they are different elements.

Tediore are great but i think the more ammo you have left in the clip, the more damage it does. that said, i rather use elemental grenades for throwing instead of a gun.

That's a great philosophy until you run out of grenades. :)

(I have regenerating grenades tho)

Then i just kill everything with bullets and when i run out of bullets, i'll punch everything to death whilst gunzerking and when i die, i buy more bullets then kill more things.

I love transfusion longbow's n cluster. Honestly, low on health? Nope, n they also slag'd my foes? Hell yeah!

It's all about that Chain Lightning grenade from the Assault on Dragon's Keep, man.

Never cared for it

I always use or aim to use elemental grenades due to the extra damage even if the primary amount is lower. For example, 144 normal with bonus of 100 damage is a sure fire way for me to use it.

I am a bit annoyed that Gearbox put a damn chest in Sanctuary and there seems to be no key for it. If it's a case of social media crap being forced into the game thus being the only way to unlock it, that is just a pile of skag [&@%!].

Also, i think Salvador is almost as tall as Tiny Tina! And i love how they adjusted the camera for his point of view instead of small race but really, it's the same camera for everything that a certain RPG did with it's latest single player game.

Oh and i am loving all the hidden references. I mean, what other games throws in the ninja turtles just so you can slaughter them repeatly. Yeah, i did something that even Michael Bay failed to do and that was butcher them!

So what if it's social media integration? It's not hard to get keys for that chest. And whatever's inside can always be earned otherwise. No need to be all vehemently dissentful about if, it's really not that big of a deal. They COULD have just sold golden keys instead.

It [&@%!] me off as i hate having to dig through twitter/facebook just for something that should require me to look for in the actual game and because i don't have the data capacity to use my PS3 online, i do not wish to do so just to put a code in and then find out it doesn't work any more. That said, i hope it is bypassed in the GOTY edition.

Then don't? It's not necessary. And it's hardly the best loot in the game. It's just level-scaled blues and purples most of the time. It's all supplementary, nothing worth flipping out over.

Finding the keys isn't hard at all either. Plenty of people compile the ones that are still valid. And the fact that Gearbox STILL rolls codes out so long after the game's release shows me that they care for their playerbase.

Anyway, i'll guess i'll have to be content with slaughtering bandits and more bandits just for the loot. Oh and did i mention slaughtering them for loot?

I think i will go and harrass Claptrap into giving me his top secret secret stash that is totally not hidden by a cardboard box.

I somehow managed to get two Tediroe weapons before reaching Liar's berg. :O Let's just say that gunzerking with them was interesting and gave me a bit of a needed bump to my damage output.

Also, is there any real reason for me to return to Liar's berg apart? I don't hate it but it's kinda bland and bullymongs are fun to kill along with being very rewarding with a double barrel shotgun after running out of ammo for the pistol. But it's just.... there.

I intend to invest in the RAGE and erm... the middle tree for my gunzerker. I want to pretty much dish out the damage and be able to take a lot of damage as i intend to turn into an assault rifle, submachine gun, rocket launcher and maybe, sniper rifle gunzerker that's equipped for all occassions. I may swap out sniper for elemental pistols despite the lower damage.

Liar's Berg is mostly the opening area. I wouldn't call Borderlands open-world, it's very much zoned like an MMO. You outgrow zones over time.

Of course, there's always True Vault Hunter mode and Ultimate Hunter mode. They're like New Game+ but with the enemies scaled to level 30/level 50, respectively. Liar's Berg will be a bit more interesting then, of course.

Ah, thought so. I'm unsure if i'll do new game plus afterwards as i only do one playthrough per game then leave the game for a while. That said, i will inject a hell of a lot of steroids to prep myself for ultimate vault hunter. Or would that be too immersive?

It's pretty much necessary. I'm on my first run of UVH (you can force the enemies up in level via the Raid on Digistruct Peak) but I am NOT touching that til I beat the game on UVH at least once. I DID two-man Terramorphus so UVH shouldn't be too terrible, but this game can be pretty tough, especially if you play a Mechromancer. She's squishy in the first place but my build doesn't even touch her more 'defensive' tree.

Salvador can be turned into, well, Wolverine minus the claws thus a living walking death dealing one man gunzerking army with a mild tendecy to beat up Hyperion goons just because he can.
