With so many shows on tv -past and present, and now ones on the internet too, there is a veritable cornucopia of cool and catchy theme tunes out there.
What are your favourites?

I'm going to start with one that gets stuck in your head and you can't help but hum along to.

Thunderbirds Theme

This is definitely turning out to be more of a recounting of my tastes in TV than in the themes, but whatever, I don't care, I like the themes. Didn't watch a hell of a lot of TV when I was a young'un (no, because most of my time sitting in front of a TV involved using something made by Nintendo), so my themes of choice are all pretty modern.

This is obviously a song outside the realm of the TV show that has adopted it, but meh

Short and sweet.

And of course...

Now, while this last one isn't my favourite TV theme, I must force upon you all the horror of Canadian children's TV circa the 90s. Bear witness to man's greatest sin...Nanalan.

The intro to Björnes Magasin. Every time I hear it I turn 5 again.

Oh my, now I totally want to watch an episode of Adventure Time, and Bjornes Magasin!

And Nanalan is so cute! She's like a perky, fabric, simplified form of Yoda.

I thought the Inspector Gadget theme was pretty cool until Gabriel Morton made it ten times better:

No way... I actually remember this. I can't recall whether I actually watched it myself when I was a toddler, or whether it was just one of the shows I had to endure my sisters watching when I was a bit older, but somehow I still have the basic imprint of the memory of it. Wow. Really takes me back.

Here are a couple of classics (for me, anyway) that I actually happened upon today before looking at this thread. Back when I was in elementary school, these were the shows I'd come home to. That is, while the Family Channel (the Canadian imprint of Disney Channel) still ran them... :(
BUH-BARBARIAN! BUH-BUH-BARBARIAN!:
FRIENDS? I thought this was all about ME!:
And last but not least,
There are no words... literally:

Well, now I've got BUH-BUH-BARBARIANS stuck in my head. How do I get it out? Digimon!

I used to watch this after school. The first series had this cool theme song (though it was cut a lot shorter). The later series changed to a different theme, which seems to be the one most commonly associated with the programme. Took longer to try and find the original song.

Anyone remember this?

Also, I have absolutely no explanation for this one, but I have two words for you; "Bad day!"

Yeah, the lemur is dead now. :P Was like a year or two ago, I think.

@Baloth. Yeah, that Cardcaptors song is the one they changed it to in the later series here, which was disappointing cos I liked the first one.

Ha, ha. I remember Jackie Chan Adventures!

Arabic Batman sure is something. You know what's also something? The Tom Jones-y goodness of Duck Dodgers.

Everyone should post the theme song of a 90s children show from the country they grew up in. Here's mine, although it's only the first 20 seconds of the video. I couldn't find the intro by itself.

Anyway, Ouran High School Host Club is great.
Hidden:

The Wire is really interesting, it uses the same song every season but it's a different version of the song by a different person or group. And the style of the song is more in keeping for what that particular season is about. Here's just Season One.

This is probably the only post on the internet featuring The Morbegs, Ouran High School Host Club and The Wire.

Here's a couple more.

Postman Pat:

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG:

You know, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is probably my favourite show and the second season is better than the first, so's the intro for the second season.

I recently started watching this show from the mid 90s and it's got a great theme song.

^ Tune itself doesn't start until 0:43 but the intro (especially the double-take that guy does at 0:22) is all good stuff.

^ Series written by the guy who went on to do Babylon-5! :o

And if you're in an 'Austin Powers' mood these two are pretty cool:

(edit: Can't view this one from UESPF. :( )

^ It keeps saying '1980' because that was The Future in those days. :D

I find it interesting that 95% of the tunes in here are themes to kids' shows.
Do they not make tunes like they used to, do children's tv shows have better theme tunes than adult ones, or is it the grip of nostalgia, perhaps?
