it always bugged me how there was never a good explanation for why the new Pokemon just sort of sprung up outta nowhere, or regions for that matter.

There are eight different regions.

Kanto is where Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed, and LeafGreen take place.
Johto is where Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver take place.
Hoenn is where Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald take place.
Sinnoh is where Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum take place.
Orre is where Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness take place.
Fiore is where the original Pokémon Ranger takes place.
Almia is where Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia takes place.

The region in which the Mystery Dungeon games take place still has yet to be named.

I don't see how continually adding new regions to the world is ignoring lore.

Okay yeah badly phrased... But they are increasing on it in such a massive way that its obvious that its for the money purposes...
I bet the person who originally came up with the concept was happy with just the first generation of pokemon, and pretty much the rest of it has been thought up by other designers to make moneys...
(okay that was the worst worded arguement ever but with all the work atm, all i can say os sorry  )

I believe what you're trying to say can be summed up with a link to TV Tropes: Cash Cow Franchise. But yeah. Even if I think generation 3 is the best, it's still a cash cow franchise.

There should be a poll asking what your favorite type is.

Mine would be water, especially when it's mixed with ground.

Pokémon's greatest achievement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKofewfeSoY

The first series were great, especially the first part (how Ash obtained Pikachu, etc.). The latest movies/episodes are too futuristic imho and not as good as the first series (why are there suddenly 100 new Pokémon? why does Ash suddenly have new team members, where's Squirtle??).

The series shouldn't have gone past hoenn
and have you noticed how Ash gives up his most powerful pokemon for no good reason?take primape,as i recall, after winning the tournament,he gave him to some guy for training, back in Kanto
seriously?!has he forgotten about him?and what about the fact that he has never won a single tournament, other than orange islands, which don't count.i stopped watching the series around half way through hoenn.
when i realized the series is just Ash and co(which changes regularly)just go from one happy friend to the next happy friend, before he forgets them, and they no longer play a part
he is very fickle isn't he?

I really miss Misty. [&@%!] that May girl, and her annoying brother. I want Misty, not some random girl with a fire-chicken...

Agreed, the best pokemons were from the first series of games. They started getting too...something. The ones from the second series were actually pretty cool. Hoenn ones were acceptable, but after that, they should have stopped.

And although the best pokemons were from the first games, the second 'series' were better games. Crystal being awesomeness incorporated.

Personally the only ones that I like are Crystal, Yellow, Sliver, Emerald, Colosseum, and GoD. I love those two gamecube ones almost as much as Silver and still play them at the same rate as Silver maybe even more.

The only reason I played Diamond before I sold my DS was for Lucario, because he is ultimate awesomeness.
