It's coming to be the time that I get a new laptop, While I won't get rid of my current one, I have had my current on since 2012 (and it was refurbished), and getting a new machine before it's too late is a good idea. My current one is starting to act up as well. So, does anyone here have a recommendation for a laptop. I know true quality in computers is dead, but I'd like to know the current good models/manufacturers. I also want the laptop to be pretty powerful (like be rated "desktop replacement"), preferably have Win 7 (or maybe Linux or something. No Apple/Mac OS or Win 8/10 please). My max budget I am setting for myself is $2500 (which hopefully I won't need to go near). Thank you for any help and recommendations you may give me.

And I need to get a laptop. I cannot get a desktop as it is not portable and I have no room to put it anywhere, among other things.

Aren't they both [&@%!] OSs though? Win 8 is pretty lacking compared to Win 7 and I hear Win 10 is also bad.

most of laptops come in a variety of configurations at various price points.
My advice would be to take a look at your budget and recommended specs for Purpose and go from there. If you have a big budget, you may even find a “gaming” laptop that would suit your needs (lots of RAM, decent video card, good multi core processor). A lot of RAM and a good processor are very important for any graphics work. Having a video card in the laptop with a decent amount of memory will help performance too.
I picked up an Apple MacBook Pro laptop and use it with my XPPen Artist Pro 16 display drawing tablet. it's great for type of digital art and graphic design work.
