Post subject:  Question for everyone?

Before I reply to this thread I want to know what everyone thinks!

I think Moderators should be connected with the community they moderate and honestly, Bear you do a pretty good job at that :D

Definitely. I tend to lurk but I do notice that Bear's one of the more prominent peeps around. In all the year's I've been administrating I've found that a moderator needs presence and active contribution, as well as not disgruntling people or needlessly stepping on toes. 'tis a winning formula. You have that Bear. ^_^

Now that at least a few have replied, I will try and explain why I asked this question.

This is not some sort of ego or power trip thing. I asked to become a helper-mod awhile back because I thought the forums could use a helping hand when the spamming was terrible. Daveh pretty much took care of that problem. Since then it seems I'm the only thing close to a moderator around here. I have no idea whether I'm the only one left or not. I have checked the profiles of the others and if they are lurking from time to time they are definitely not posting to show any presence what so ever. I have contacted a few with little to no response. So, I thought I would pose this question to the community and see what happens. I see that someone voted no and that's good, I never expected it to be 100% yes. Please feel free to express your opinion either way, as well as vote.

Good of you to be honest, Bear, and I admire that you're at least raising the point. I'd noticed the distinct lack of appearance the Mods have been making myself; it's hard to tell exactly because phpbb doesn't have a "Last Login" function on profiles but looking at the last post dates Vook hasn't posted since last year, Magnus since February and it'll be close to a month since Quiglesigles' last post. :?

Granted UESP isn't as fanatically active as a lot of other forums, which tend to operate more like chat rooms than anything, but it's useful to have an active moderator around. It would make more sense to replace the inactive staff with a single active mod. Short of there being an uncontrollable flood of spam, I think you'd be more than enough right now.

 Sorry about that Mazer, the question is actually about me. Now after reading it again I can see where that could be misunderstood. Totally my fault! I am not laughing at you either, I am laughing at myself for leaving it open to interpretation as such. I got a huge laugh after I read your post and the realization set in. Once again sorry for the misunderstanding.

Anyone else noticed that the percentages of the votes don't add up to 100?

Author:  Mazer [ Sat Jun 16, 2007 3:41 pm ]
Post subject:

you mean that it is 99%?

Author:  ace62394 [ Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:18 pm ]
Post subject:

because it's not an even number. for example, it could be 89.6% yes and 9.4% no, the forum just rounds it off.

I was actually hoping for more results, but I guess even tho we have a lot more active members than this shows; they are most likely unconcerned or don't venture away from their respective forums. I will send this to Dave as is and see what happens.

My guess is that most people don't visit this forum and rather their game's forum instead.
