This pleases me that the rushed thing is proving to be quite the challenge.

OK, I'm going to take a guess here and I'm probably wrong but hey, what's the harm in trying?
I'm thinking it's Sam Guevenne/Sanguine.

The key to life I am - This could be a really weak link but in regards to living - Sam offers the Dragonborn to have a drinking contest with him. He also loves to play pranks on people - which makes me think of the phrase 'live a little'. He's living life to the fullest to some extent. It could also be in relation to the fact that he uses conjuration magic, though...
With something in common to Serious Sam - The name Sam would give both parties a common ground.

but so shall your enemies strive - Hmm, well when Sanguine gives you the staff it enables you to summon Dremora, and they aren't really dead but they are demons and originate from the planes of Oblivion. You can summon them, but they are your enemies in Oblivion so it would be like bringing your enemies to life?
I am not but what you make me - Daedra are not wholly good or evil - it is determined by any person what they wish to consider them as.

Sometimes recalled, other times long forgot. - This reminds me of the related quest, 'A night to remember.' It could reference the fact that the Dragonborn completely forgot all the events of the previous night and had to ask everyone they had encountered in order to get a general clue about what had happened.

In any case I'm probably totally wrong, but oh well.

Sorry to tell you but it is wrong.

Let me offer a hint: stop thinking so hard into the lore because the answer is what you use often.
