Hello, I searched the forum to see if there was info on this but I could not find any. Sorry if this has been asked before though but I found the Redguard demo on CNET Download.com and I downloaded it, I have not installed it at all because I dont want to mess anything up. So I was wondering if someone could provide me with directions, thanks.

Link to the demo:

Thanks

First of all, what operating system are you running? I don't believe it will work with more modern systems, and I've tried to run it on Windows 7 without any luck. If you have an older OS or some kind of emulator you may be able to get it going though.

There are some instructions on the wiki here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Redguard:Installation_guide

I don't know how much of that applies to the Demo, though. I tried installing it (just a quick test) and it installed, but could not find 3DFX drivers to play (because my computer doesn't have 3DFX drivers). The instructions say you can run a program to simulate the 3DFX environment, though. You might want to check it out. You can't really hurt anything by trying to install.

(Im running Windows 8.) I am going to check out some programs that simulate the 3DFX environment before I go any further with emulators and other stuff.

Windows 8 (as well as 7) has the ability to run programs in an XP compatibility mode if it doesn't work normally.

I have a friend who was running it on Windows 98 (may have been 95 even), iirc, but from what I've read there are ways to get it running on XP. I don't know I'm going to be much help on this though, but I'll let you know if I learn anything new, and will try and talk to him about it. I myself would love to know if and how you are able to get it running, so I'll stay tuned.
