Thane of Eastmarch

Thu May 20, 2021 5:33 pm

So, I just completed the Civil War for the Imperials. Brunwulf is on the throne. But he's not offering me the title of Thane.

I'm playing on the Xbox One.

I did buy the house, but there's no dialog to gain the title of Thane. Now, it's not critically important. I almost never commit crimes (just Thieves Guild Radiant quests). But it's bothersome to me that I can't get this. Are there any good ways to get him to give me the title?

This might be a stupid question, but did you help enough people in town? Perhaps you could try helping anyone who you haven't helped yet?

I don't think that could be the problem, but I'll try seeing if I can find a few more side quests to do.

Apparently, that was the problem. I took a long break in playing this character, and when I came back, hadn't spent much time in Windhelm. Did a few good deeds around town, and he gave me the title. Usually, the Jarl will give you a quest telling you you need to do that, which is what threw me.

I'm glad you got it sorted out! :) TBH, I thought maybe you couldn't acquire the house until you'd helped enough people, so I thought it might be a long shot, but it's been a while since I've played Skyrim on a new character so I couldn't remember.
