No, there should be no problems with the two versions coexisting, as long you don't try to install them in the same folder.

I've installed and am running both versions under Steam, and they don't interfere with each other at all. I can't speak for cases where you install them yourself outside of Steam, but I would guess that it's just a question of not trying to install one on top of (i.e., in the same folder as) the other.

Ha! I used to have 12 points, and now have 20, so I gained 8 points, too! :)

Yes, there will be no issues between the two. I run both at the same time to check out various things quicker. Mind you, Special Edition has basically surpassed Legendary for functionality purposes. Most major mods have long since been ported over, and Special Edition is just a bit better.

My only gripe about SE is that you can't disable the additional content and enable it when you want. So basically you can get attacked for being the Dragonborn even before you've been revealed to be the Dragonborn.

so since you can't disable dawnguard, so can someone recommend some simple mod (not using skse) for easily making chosen npc protected (or essential) from within game not using console. Like NPCProtectionTweaks from nexus (it adds script for regular arkay amulet with menu popping up on interaction with npc(even non humanoid bot) after equipping arkay amulet which shows status and lets toggle protected, essential, invulnerable), just something of that sort for SE
(kind of bit off topic, but its my tread, i can switch its track)

If you have the Special Edition, the vampire attacks don't happen in cities as far as I know. You can get Run For Your Lives though, which is a mod that makes non-combat NPCs hide during city attacks.

ok nevermind the last request, just started Special edition for first time just now and i seam to actually find exact same mod on SE Skyrim from in game mod browser (just checked nexus oldrim mod author and this SE ingame mod browser one is same guy), i also found almost all of my load order on SE, except Lagrie "Armory of Fear and Dark" (but that one was very last addition to my load order on oldrim)
