In internet there are always a lot of questions about how containers work in Morrowind, I was thinking it would be a good idea to create a page about that, like the ones already existing about Oblivion and Skyrim.

What do you think about it? If yes, how should we do it?

I haven't looked at the existing pages for Oblivion and Skyrim that you alluded to. Are you talking about a guide to what the available types of containers are, and how much each type of container can hold? If so, I think that's a great idea.

Whenever I play Morrowind I tend to set up my home base in Foryn Gilnith's shack, at least in the early part of the game, and I have a lot of fun (that's sarcasm) trying to squeeze all of my loot into the various containers in that shack.

My approach is to start with the heaviest items first, until I get the message that some item I'm trying to add won't fit. Then I close and reopen the container, because there seems to be a bug where once you get that message you can't fit anything else in even if there actually is room for it. So I keep moving down to smaller (i.e., lighter) items and fitting as much as I can, eventually moving down to items that weigh practically nothing.

If you do it that way you can determine how much weight each type of container can hold. I haven't played Morrowind in a while, but I might be able to check my most recent game to see how much can fit in each type of container.

The pages I'm talking about are:

this one for Oblivion: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Containers
this one for Skyrim: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Containers

and I mean exactly a page like these ones, but for Morrowind, where we can also note the few ones that reset (apparently there are), the different containers' capacity, etc...

Sounds like a good idea to me!

Or you could just look in the Construction Set...

Excellent! I haven't looked into the Construction Set yet, so thanks for mentioning this. :)

Are we counting plants as containers for the purposes of this discussion? They're definitely not containers in Oblivion or Skyrim, but in Morrowind most plants behave like special respawning containers you can't store anything in, and that's relevant because there are some normal containers like guild equipment chests that behave in the same way.

Interesting question. My vote would be to focus on containers that you can store something in, but there could be a special section on containers that can only be withdrawn from.

I'd say plants are not containers, since they can't be used to contain anything.

But we could put a note inside the Containers page about it, why not :)

So, should I start creating the page? Where from? I was thinking in the "Hints" section, exactly like Oblivion and Skyrim. Makes sense to me.

If that's where the other pages are, it would be consistent. :)

EDIT:

I'm thinking we could refer to these special types of containers as "dispensers," since you can take stuff out of them but not put stuff in them.

Doesn't ESO have dispensers? I'm thinking of the contraptions in the Clockwork City that you can get tasteless-but-nutritious stuff from. In fact, don't they call them dispensers in the game? Sorry, I'm in ESO right now but am otherwise occupied in Malabal Tor, but I'll make a quick trip to the Clockwork City later to verify.

Yep-- "Nutriment Dispenser." So that would be a good name to call any special containers, like plants or guild chests, where you can retrieve stuff but not put stuff in.

I created the page: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Containers

now there is nothing of course, I just put inside some container capacity that I personally tested. I hope you guys will help to improve it!
