Who decides what the featured articles/images are and how often do they change? Thanks!

Here's the page for Featured Articles, and here's the one for Featured Images.

Anyone can nominate an article/image to be featured, and then anyone can vote in support/opposition of a nomination. Ideally we want to change them every month or so, but they tend to hang around longer because we don't get a ton of nominations and/or some of them take awhile to come to a consensus. If you know of any images or articles that you think are good enough to be featured, feel free to nominate them on the Featured Article/Image pages!

Note that only registered accounts can nominate and vote. Anonymous IP editors may comment on a nomination but their vote will not count.
