Do you have a preferred city that you go to whenever you need to refine raw materials, craft stuff, store stuff in the bank, etc.?

For me, it's Vivec City, partly because the only dwelling I own is in Vivec City, but also because thr bank and all of the crafting stations are conveniently located close together in one little area, not to mention there's a fence or two close by as well. In contrast, other cities might be missing a bank or certain crafting stations, or if they do have all of that then everything is scattered about to where you need to run from one side of the city to the other a lot.

Are there any good alternatives to Vivec City? What are your go-to cities?

In the past, I've been a fan of Mournhold, Rawl-kha, and Dhalmora. These days, I mainly just port to my house, where I've got my crafting stations, banker and merchant all in one convenient spot. I still head to Mournhold to list items in my trade guild (we hire Zarum each week) and to pick up pledges.

Vulkhel Guard is my favorite one, partly just because I really like Auridon. I'm not sure how spread-out you'd consider it, but the crafting area at least has got everything pretty much in one place. It's also my favorite spot for stealing things, pickpocketing, etc, and is nice and close enough to a dolmen that you can go running to it if you hear the anchor drop.

Elden Root is my personal preference. All of the crafting stations and the banker are on the same level, easy to go to.

I prefer Vivec City too, though it lacks a Dye Station.
Before the daily crafting could be delivered in every zone, Rawl-kha was my favorite, which is a little less crowded since Morrowind and offers awesome opportunities for stealing.
Both of them also have the Wayshrine close by.

The other day I finally maximized my storage capacity-- pack, bank, and riding-- so now I've started to collect housing. So far I've just got the rooms at the inns plus the three apartments, but I figured I would start spending more time in different cities to become more familiar with their layouts. "Wait, am I supposed to go down this lane or that lane? Dang, I took the wrong turn again. I'm so confused!" I still keep going back to Vivec City to deposit, cash in, or deconstruct my loot, but I'm gradually becoming better at getting around some of the other cities. :)
