It works fine with the current version of Chrome, if you can bare going over to Google's browser. Not sure how the two compare in all the technical details, but they both trump IE as far as functionality :P.

FYI: I finally updated OCP to version 0.8.2b to work with Firefox 5+. Long story short, Mozilla did something I consider stupid that broke it and I haven't had time to even look at OCP until now.

Hi Frogmander. We do have a special sticky topic for the Character Planner , however the one you've linked to is a completely separate one as far as I can tell (thanks for sharing!), incorporating an entire guide to the game, although without some of the features of the other. It's a handy tool isn't it?

Seeing as the other topic is a sticky, perhaps a mod could add this one to the OP over there, and merge the topic?

True, the IGN one is in an easy to use format, and it looks nice and sleek too. The OCP does have great features when it comes to planning out future levelling though, and can be handy for those wishing to efficiently level, or to max out their character's stats. Their both good .

Cool thing, really!!! :D

I'm level 12 and already have 2 (almost 3) of my attributes maxed.

I thought it might be worth mentioning The Oblivion Character Creation website. While it does not offer analysis and planning tools like the Oblivion Character Planner, it is still a fairly useful tool for planning out characters, and gives fairly detailed information on what your character will 'look like' once you exit Character Creation.

It might be an idea to add the OCC and IGN OCC to the OP, if it's not too much trouble, as alternate Character Generation tools.

I must be missing something. I tried to run this on Firefox 35 and Google chrome. Neither one had any information in the instruction or advice pages. The program also wanted to run only one game plan, (a melee 5-5-1) with attributes in this order End, Str, Lck, Int, Agil, Spd, Will, Per.

Here is an example of how its planning failed.

Nord, Custom, with Warrior birthsign (lots of Strength) Marksman as the major weapon skill.

Major skills
Endurance (Block)
Strength (none)
Agility (Marksman)
Intelligence (Mysticism, Conjuration)
Willpower (Alteration)
Speed (Acrobatics)
Personality (Illusion)

It NEVER had me put a single point into Marksman (my major weapon skill).
It had me fighting Hand to Hand for 8 levels for Strength I did not need.
It had me taking 1 pt luck instead of 5 pts for anything useful.
It had me sneaking, but not using Alchemy.

I switched to a Bosmer with thief birthsign--it still didn't want me to use a bow.
I switched out Marksman for Destruction with a Breton with Mage birthsign--It didn't want me to use any Destruction.
I went through a bunch of canned classes--same sort of thing.

My suggestion is that the program read the primary major weapon skill (i.e. Blade, Marksman, Destruction, Conjuration) and base a 5-5-5 game off of that (assuming combat, stealth, or magic play), and direct play towards Strength, Agility, or Intelligence+Willpower in the early levels based on that. Luck is practically useless. It might be a good idea for it to assume that a value of 50-60 is good enough for some attributes such as Strength for a mage, or Intelligence/Speed for a warrior, and work towards those goals fairly early in the game.

So i have tried using the http://ocp.uesp.net/ page in windows and in Mac OS X on chrome, firefox, IE and safari. Every page has a red text message saying "If this message remains, then the Dojo Toolkit has failed to load.
For faster loading, OCP uses the Dojo Toolkit from the AOL CDN. Make sure your browser is configured to allow execution of JavaScript scripts from the o . aolcdn . com server."
Nothing is clickable on the page.
is this planner hosted anywhere else. when i used to play i was would use this to level. I am planning a youtube 100% completion play through that i would really like to use this for it.

thanks in advanced.

I too would like to see this web page fixed. The application was very helpful. Does anyone know the author?

Chicken Slayer: If I recall when I last used this app, there was a way in which you could select the order in which you would level your Attributes. I believe if you selected Luck last, then it would level the other attributes first and ignore Luck until higher levels. I could be mistaken. However, you would probably not be able to level-up as high if you focused on leveling 3 Attributes at once per each level-up. I think you were looking at the app to tell you more than you needed it to. It was only meant to give you the Skill-ups as efficiency guidelines. Your missing points (no Marksman, Alchemy, etc.) would presumably be points you could use or "waste" without affecting the efficiency of leveling up your Primary Skills and thus Attributes.

For now, I'm resorting to using the Oblivion Character Creation link and using those Stats to produce a spreadsheet where I carefully input the points into each Skill column, ensuring that I'm leveling appropriately each level-up and in the following order using the 5-5-1 scenario: Endurance, Strength, Intelligence, Agility, Speed, Willpower, Personality)

Hi all,

I've made the long, long overdue update to OCP to fix it. Hopefully it will stay operational. :)

FWIW, I fixed two problems. First, the CDN I was using no longer provided the framework files, so I copied them locally; there are no more external dependencies so that can't happen again. Second, the Instructions and Advice tabs were zero height, so I put in a minimum height workaround.

Oh, and please feel free to grab a complete copy of OCP. I put the source tar ball up at http://ocp.uesp.net/ocp-20170823-v0.8.3.tar.gz.

Hi all,

In case anyone wanted to use, extend or otherwise do something with OCP, I created a GitHub repository for it: https://github.com/rdoll/ocp

While I am no longer making changes to OCP, publishing the source is my way of saying thanks for embracing me and OCP. Also, special thanks to UESP for hosting OCP for all these years.

Sincerely,
-Foam
