Something that has been on my mind for a while is that at least I view Restoration as a "sacred or holy" school of magic. For example, Alessia Ottus often comments on how foul and wrong magic users are, but she commends Chapelfolks that "smite the undead with destruction and mend the sick with restoration".

Could an evil Mage even use Restoration and count as evil? Could he use it in a way to spitefully mend the petty wounds his "goody good shoes" foes try to inflict upon him? Or would he prefer Alchemy for healing?

Is Restoration magic necessarily good, or are all magics neutral, really? Opinions?

Of course the absorb side of the skill is rather vampiric. Resist and fortify spells are neutral. Cure and healing are definitely good. So, yeah, I agree that alchemy would be appropriate for D'DEW (dark, dark evil way) types.

There is no reason someone evil can't use restoration magic. We see it in game, at least I know in ESO we see restoration mages when fighting the bad guys. Not everyone will use Restoration for religious purposes but for it's pragmatic uses. And remember, most bad guys don't think they are bad, in their mind they are right.

What is Necromancy if not a really powerful and specific kind of Restoration magic?

If you could use a spell which caused your opponent to explode into bloody chunks of meat that your character could then eat to restore health, I'm pretty sure that only an evil character would cast this. Similarly, truly evil characters would not cast restore health on their comrades, because if they are weak and puny then they deserve to die. They would also not heal themselves, for fear of appearing weak and puny to their evil allies. They might absorb health like a vampire or get away with selfishly using a potion. ESO players that RP evil characters may not follow this line of reasoning, because they are not truly evil POS.

I like that way of looking at it, however. That's pretty much the RP I had in mind. A Neutral Evil Mage that basically goes screw everything. I will do what I do and those that disapprove shall get real intimately acquainted with a fireball up the nose. :3

I believe that it was noticed that Restoration, Conjuration, and Mysticism were the primary magics used in Necromancy, so you got a point. I guess an enterprising evil mage could just use Restoration for wrong or convenience. :3

Sorry for the double post. I only noticed it after.

I think we might be confusing evil with arrogance. If the evil person in question knows he is out matched why wouldn't he use restoration on himself or others to live another day to carry out whatever his goal may be? If he is intelligent and scheming he'll know when to pick his fights

I think we might be confusing evil with naughty. If you want to RP a naughty character for a change, then fine. If you want to play an actual Kim Jong Un type, then stop kidding yourself. That's what evil is.
