Some may call me a whining [&@%!] but I am just curious on how other people feel towards Elder Scrolls.

Oblivion was my very first Elder Scrolls game, and I fell in love with it. I've since learned that its gameplay is simpler than the gameplay of most of its predecessors, but I'm still extremely fond of it. I even enjoy its conversation minigame, which most Elder Scrolls fans seem to dislike immensely.

Back when it was still new, someone in a retrogaming forum was griping about how tedious it was to travel around without using fasttravel, and my response to him was that I love running around Cyrodiil on foot; in all of the years that I've played Oblivion, I've almost never even ridden around on a horse. I think the gameworld is gorgeous to look at, and I even like the way the characters look.

It's certainly not without its flaws, such as the bug that slows animation down to a crawl, or bugs that make saved games unloadable, but I love it in all its unmodded vanilla glory.

I bought it when it came out. It was so complex that even with a “newish” PC, I could barely run it at the time so it went to the side. Every few years, I’ve installed and tried again. The avalanche of games between now and then has been a huge distraction for me to remain in Cyrodiil for very long. A couple of times I modded the hell out of it, for many hours – only to find myself engulfed in CTD flames and running like hell to some other game.
I turned 68 last week and maybe wiser. I started some judicious modding of my Oblivion game and hope to share the wisdom I have gleaned with others here soon.

I still think it's one of the best games ever made by man.)

It's the only TES main title that I haven't replayed.
