Daggerfall:City Walls

City walls are large stone and masonwork structures which surround a settlement for protection against attack. Certain sections permit access to the settlement's interior via a set of large, sturdy doors. These gateways are identified on the automap as short narrow sections within the wall. These gates are only open during the daylight hours. Those who seek access to the settlement at night must either climb or levitate over the walls.
