As the premier research institution in the Empire of Tamriel, the Mages Guild emplys a number of mystics and scholars all over the land. If we can get a representative of the Guild over to a place a reasonable distance of here, the eminent scholar, (scholar), and has agreed to share his research. Would you be available for this?

Grand, just grand. Now, (scholar) is staying in (town) in a place called (place) for just a few days. The danger is the Necromancers. Those reprobate spellslingers are interested in getting to (scholar) and his research. I will give you (time) to get to (scholar) and get back before I send someone else. Good luck.

[edit] Walkthrough

This quest can be completed two ways. The first is to go to the town, grab the notes, and bring them back to the guild. The second is to receive a note from the Dark Brotherhood. If you haven't gotten the note by the time you're to the scholar's house, then try to fast travel. It should tell you that a messenger has given you a note. The note will have a residence to bring the research notes to. Grab the research notes, and bring them to that residence for random gold and +10 reputation points with the Dark Brotherhood and -2 with the Mages Guild. There is a possibility that the Dark Brotherhood will give you fake notes to bring to the Mages Guild, if so, bring them back to the quest giver of the Mages Guild and get his money too.
