Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

A Conspiracy of Orcs and Mages[edit]

Battle your way through an army of orcs
The less common (but more dangerous) Orc sergeants pack a punch

Speak to the Quester, who says:

"Welcome (player's name). My name is (Quester's name). The order has just been told of a crazed, orc mercenary that needs to be stopped. Are you willing to take up this quest?

Accept[edit]

The Quester goes on:

"Very well. In a dark pit not to far away, a cursed place called (dungeon), an orc warlord named (orc's name) has been conspiring with a group of renegade mages, even worse than the Necromancers, to destroy (region). Perhaps he feels that he was wronged by the (ruler's title), perhaps it is merely the unreasoning hate that orcs often exhibit toward humans. The important thing is that he must be stopped, before his blind fury and the magic of the mages have truly disastrous results. Stop him, (player's first name) any way you can. If you have not returned with the situation remedied in (time limit) days, if it isn't too late, we knights will do the job ourselves. Pray, do not let it come to that."

Decline[edit]

The Quester answers:

"Your modesty does you justice, (player's first name). Feel free to return when you are less faint of heart."

Hunt the Warlord[edit]

Head to the dungeon where the Orc warlord is amassing his forces. Once inside, orc warriors and shamans may appear at regular intervals attempting to end your quest and your life. Find and kill your target, an orc warlord. When he dies, you get a notification:

You have slain the Orc warlord.

Return to the Order to complete your mission.

Reward[edit]

Upon reporting back to the Quester, he says:

"Well done, (player's first name). The orcs are moving out of (dungeon), so your mission must have been successful. You are truly a worthy member of our order."

Notes[edit]

  • The questfile contains elements of a second path through the quest which allows you to complete it without killing the orc warlord. However, this optional path is not implemented in the final release.

Additional Dialogue[edit]

After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "(Dungeon) is a perfect location for the orcs to gather -- it's so remote."
  • "The orcs and the renegade mages are planning something horrible for (region).'

If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "The land has been cursed by the mages. It may be war, plague, famine, or all."
  • "No one could do anything to stop the unholy alliance of orc and mage."

If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "The orcs have left (dungeon) suddenly. Their leader was sick or even dead."
  • "(Region) was saved by the sacrifice of a brave and resourceful (player's race) mercenary."

If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:

  • "Greetings, (player's guild title). How goes it with you, Orc Slayer?"

If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:

  • "Dashed pity about those orcs and mages getting away. Well, it happens."
