[edit] Oblivion Icons

Again I ask - is it really appropriate to use Oblivion graphics on a Daggerfall page? Shouldn't we get some graphics from Daggerfall to use here instead? Just seems wrong to me somehow. --TheRealLurlock Talk 00:29, 2 December 2006 (EST)

No it not. I am just learning how to communicate and work on this wiki, but I may be able to recruit some help in the future. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by James Wildspell (talkcontribs).

[edit] Spell Advice

While some advice on spell-usage may be useful, what is on this page is very wordy, and seems specific to one player's character. I am also pretty certain that this has been copy and pasted from another site, and I don't think that it was the original UESP. I also don't want to just chop someone's work right out of the wiki. Does anyone have an opinion? James Wildspell

As far as I can tell, most of the content on this article was originally taken from the comparable article on the old UESP site, namely dagmagic.shtml. If I'm overlooking something, and there is indeed content here that has been plagiarized from elsewhere, then it should definitely be deleted... I'm just not seeing the evidence to support that right now.
On the other hand, the article does need to be cleaned up to meet UESP's Style Guide. For example, all of the first-person comments are definitely inappropriate. If you would like to take a stab at cleaning it up, the help would be welcome :) --NepheleTalk 02:29, 22 January 2008 (EST)
Indeed, I did not alter the substance of the content during my initial clean-up, only the form. I merely wikified the table, added some primitive formatting, and included pretty pictures. The original content was collected from newsgroup posts, mailing lists, private email, and guestbook submissions. There was no single author, and the content was not moderated; it was simply posted as it was received by DH in those ancient dark days of Before Wiki. I'm in no position to tackle this space any time soon, so I'm hoping JW will continue his outstanding example. Uniblab 16:51, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
It may be the old UESP site that I saw this on, so I will let that issue rest. As for a major edit of the page, I will take a look at the style guide first, but will certainly do what I can to improve the article.

[edit] Custom Spells

I feel that a whole subsection, if not a new article, about custom spells is warranted. The circinate spells, and the list of spell effects may need some foot-noting, but custom spell creation needs to be explained clearly; if only to show the options between characters who have low levels of magical proficiency and those who have more. The spell-maker and the item-maker are easily the most powerful tools available to the player of DF. I feel that they deserve better treatment than they have received here.

Given that you're one of the few active editors with any knowledge of Daggerfall, the assistance you've been providing with these articles is very welcome :) If you could fill in more detailed information on the spell-maker (and maybe eventually the item-maker), that would be great, including a new article if appropriate. In other words, I'd say assume that you have a green light to improve articles as you see fit :) And apologies for not being able to give any more detailed feedback or assistance. --NepheleTalk 18:28, 28 January 2008 (EST)

[edit] Some information on Magical Schools

I've added the description of the six Magical Schools from the Daggerfall manual and therefore realigned the spell table. I've also removed the Oblion icons because

1. I was personaly irritated when I saw them for the first time in this section. In Daggerfall there are six school, but in Morrowind and Oblivion there are only five.
2. There isn't anything like a symbol or icon for the different Magical Schools in Daggerfall, neither in the game nor in the manual. Even the spells have no icon, with that one could associate them with a school. The only way to know where a spell belongs to is, either to look in the manual or to look at a page like this.--PLRDLF 19:35, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
