When Can They Be Dropped?[edit]

Is there any point at which one can drop these suckers? Don't take up a lot of space, but damn if I don't want to see them on a bookshelf for some reason.--Grieves (talk) 00:41, 9 January 2013 (GMT)

I Have the very same question, folks. Don't want to use console command. Also, did I get this right - Epistolary Acumen is destroyed/vanishes after Storn had red it? Never checked his body after quest...195.22.173.200 06:37, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
Epistolary Acumen is still on Storn's body after he dies. You have to loot it pretty much right away if you want to keep it though. The Black Books seem to keep their status as quest items permanently and cannot be removed from your inventory. You can't even sell them to Neloth, who you would expect to be interested in them. --Morrolan (talk) 19:50, 21 February 2013 (GMT)
The cleanup script for Storn's corpse (DLC2_QF_DLC2MQ04_020179DE : Fragment 48) moves his inventory to Frea (at some point during the following quest), who in turn has a greeting override if she's stuck holding the black book, so if you're missing the book, go back and talk to her. As for being perma-quest items, I think it's (in part) to prevent the player from locking themselves out of an area (by dropping the book 'inside' itself).Earthfiredrake (talk) 08:16, 10 April 2013 (GMT)

Page formatting[edit]

What is with the godawful font and text size on this page? Looking at source it seems to be auto done from others, sadly i'm not fluent in wiki to understand where or why it looks like this but it needs fixing. Killerchronic (talk) 02:31, 27 April 2013 (GMT)

What exactly is your complaint? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 02:33, 27 April 2013 (GMT)

Powers[edit]

At the moment a single book has its powers described, the rest of them only the contents. I suppose, that it could be best to have all powers displayed here, as it is the Dragonborn specific version of the page, where the lore edition already has the contents and only the contents of the books. — Unsigned comment by Giltintur (talkcontribs) at 08:58 on 13 April 2014 (GMT)

Or is it best if we just keep the powers on the Apocrypha and quest pages of each the related books (as it already is) and remove the ones already listed here? Since simply reading the book is not enough to acquire the powers? Enodia (talk) 10:51, 1 November 2014 (GMT)
It would definitely be very helpful if the books' entries linked to their quest pages. Searching for the book or just "black book" brings you here or to their lore pages, which don't give any useful information about them. --67.142.170.22 00:56, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Mention read book in order to return to Solstheim here!?[edit]

Months after going to Apocrypha and meeting Hermaeus Mora, I got Skyrim:Black Book: Untold Legends and returned. I got through its Chapters OK but forgot how to get back to Solstheim, and none of the UESP pages about the quest helped me. Turns out I should read the Black Book in my possession. That could be mentioned in this page. I almost made the edit but the template intimidated me. And/or, each Black Book quest could mention reading the Black Book to return. I think one of them does say this. Thanks for this great resource! -- Skierpage (talk) 10:55, 7 August 2021 (UTC) Skierpage (talk) 10:55, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Removing from items.[edit]

As mentioned above, you can't remove them bc they're tagged as essential and for good reason. But if you want you can tap player.removeitem *ID 1 and here are ID's for all of them to not search them 4016e22 4016e2c 4016e2d 401e99c 401e99d 401e99e 401e99f ordered as on the main (Black Book) page
