Lore Page Needed[edit]

Hey this weapon needs a lore page as it has now shown in 2 games. In Bloodmoon as the sword Bloodskal found in Bloodskal Barrow and again in Dragonborn as the Bloodskal Blade also found in Bloodskal Barrow. It therefore seems to be an artifact weapon even if the Bloodmoon version wasn't technically an artifact. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 06:22, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

It will be created soon enough. —Legoless (talk) 00:06, 6 February 2013 (GMT)

Magical Item?[edit]

Went to join the Companions with my current PC. When it came to sparring with Vilkas, I had Bloodskal Blade equipped and he chastised me for using magic, the same way he does if you use spells against him. Might be worth a note. SonGoharotto (talk) 16:41, 11 December 2012 (GMT)

Doesnt damage followers[edit]

Might be worth noting that the shockwave does not damage followers, and they will not turn hostile even after multiple hits. Very useful if you need to fall back from battle and have your follower tank.

It will damage and turn a follower's summon hostile. I'm assuming it would do the same to your own. — Unsigned comment by 76.5.139.115 (talk) at 09:20 on 14 December 2012‎

Does the shockwave raise your two hand skill?[edit]

Just seems like an answer to that question should be on the page. From what I can tell on my Xbox, it does not raise your two hand skill, but I would love to be wrong. 170.224.50.12 01:19, 27 December 2012 (GMT)oops, forgot to sign in Romandoug (talk) 01:31, 27 December 2012 (GMT)

Damage of energy blast[edit]

Does the energy blast does only 30 damage or does it also include the full damage of the weapon swing? Do any skills (two handed or magic) increase the damage of the energy blast? --Skyhirider (talk) 00:57, 1 January 2013 (GMT)

Damage from the energy wave seems to be fixed, but I have seen it inflict a stagger on lower level enemies, which is very handy. SonGoharotto (talk) 22:23, 3 January 2013 (GMT)

No (Legendary) Tempering?[edit]

I tried to temper the BloodSkaal Blade with all perks on smithing, and the higher available level is (flawless). Is that intended, or is it a overlooked error?— Unsigned comment by Foacir (talkcontribs) at 23:08 on 9 February 2013

It might not be assigned a perk, which means that you never get the x2 bonus, thus you are unable to get to legendary without potions and/or enchanted gear. Jeancey (talk) 23:11, 9 February 2013 (GMT)
It's telling me I don't have the perk to improve magical items (Arcane Artisan/Blacksmith, which I do have) when I want to improve it. I can improve all of my other magical items to Legendary fine, it's just this one. Not sure if Skyrim Redone would have much to do with it given every other conceivable magical item "just works". --184.151.63.184 09:32, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
Do you have another enchanted sword in your equipment? Sometimes the game seems to get a bit confused. For instance, you can't upgrade the Nightingale Armor with Void Salts if you have the Fine-cut Void Salts in your inventory -- the game will tell you that you don't have the necessary ingredients. Try putting aside all your other enchanted weaponry and see if that helps. 174.6.51.17 10:51, 8 June 2013 (GMT)

This remainds me from something...[edit]

Doesn't that ability seem little familiar for those who read/watch BLEACH?

My first thought was of the Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda, actually. Loved it! Voraxith (talk) 06:04, 13 June 2013 (GMT)

Value?[edit]

Strange. The Bloodskal Blade that I have is only valued at 500. Checking with console command "additem" also give a value of 500. Is it just me or an error on the page? — Unsigned comment by 210.195.242.138 (talk) at 06:02 on 12 February 2013

The page was wrong, but not anymore. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:44, 12 February 2013 (GMT)

Bug? Blade won't fire wave... Pure Mage Screwed?[edit]

So, I'm down here, in the barrow, with no way out, because in 33 levels, my pure mage character never spent a point on Stamina. He thus, apparently, lacks the ability to make the two handed sword do its power attack, and open the door... And as there's no way out... All I can say, is thank the gods I'm on the PC version, and can TCL, or I'd be boned. — Unsigned comment by 99.42.81.32 (talk) at 21:52 on 13 March 2013 (GMT)

Try dropping it and picking it up again, that fixes most weapon bugs. 72.51.205.207 18:05, 14 April 2013 (GMT)
You can do a power attack even with a 15 2H and 100 Stamina. You just have to wait and catch your breath a bit before doing another one is all. Which makes the door rather tedious, if you have 30+ 2H, the cheap PA perk, and 300 stamina or so you can make quite a few of them in a row. --Morrolan (talk) 04:43, 25 September 2013 (GMT)

2 blades[edit]

After defeating the dragon priest at the end of the quest you get his sword in, my character kicked a metallic object.. I looked around for a bit to discover that another copy of the bloodskal blade was lying on the floor! I don't know what caused this, but now I have two.. I don't know how to repeat such a glitch. The only thing I did that might be considered strange is using the black book before facing the boss.. 50.127.248.189 20:33, 18 April 2013 (GMT)

Followers[edit]

It seems that followers cannot use the enchantment on this weapon. When a follower power attacks with this sword, nothing happens. — Unsigned comment by 24.197.144.16 (talk) at 23:42 on 23 June 2013 (GMT)

No stagger?[edit]

All of my two handed weapons will stagger any enemy when doing power attack, but Bloodskal Blade doesn't. Does anybody experience the same? — Unsigned comment by 36.72.127.232 (talk) at 15:43 on 17 July 2013

Sword and jounal not there.[edit]

I am playing on PC and have a lot of mods so that might be the problem but in the cavern there is no bloodskal blade and the journal is not in the guys corpse just gold and a lockpick. — Unsigned comment by 216.67.24.239 (talk) at 22:29 on 25 May 2015 (GMT)

As you note yourself you have a lot of mods installed. It will be impossible to know if any of them are interfering, so as a bug note it is of no use. —MortenOSlash (talk) 04:13, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Bloodskaal Energy Damage Bonus[edit]

not sure if it's worth to be noted. In the script, it has bonus damage against Zahkriisos, 30 pts of fixed damage when the player is under level 30 and 50 pts when player is above level 30.Mudcrabrider (talk) 13:25, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Possible reason for the sword glitching - Quest is time sensitive?[edit]

From my testing, it appears that if you enter Raven Rock Mine (DL2BloodskalBarrow01) in SE, then leave for 30 days so it resets, the Bloodskal Blade is replaced by a copy (is not tied to the instance id xx1e201, not marked as a quest item) and cannot release bolts, which leaves the player stuck.

Have not confirmed in original skyrim although if this is the case I don't see why it would be different.AKFrost (talk) 12:03, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

I can confirm that at least in my game, I entered and left the mine for over 30 days without completing the quest and the Bloodskal Blade I found when I did was non-functional. — Unsigned comment by 172.98.79.199 (talk) at 03:24 on 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Questionable.[edit]

On the page, it states the following:

  • "Depending upon what level you get it at, the damage of the energy released changes. At 30+, it will do 30 points of damage, and at 50+ it will do 50 points of damage.[verification needed — need complete figures]".

This is highly questionable. I have played and gotten this sword multiple times, on multiple levels, and the damage has always been 30 points. Never more, never less. I don't play on a modded game, though I do have all three DLCs. -- Werewolfvampire (talk) 02:41, 25 April 2020 (GMT)
