The phrase "Alessian Doctrines" can refer to two things:

  1. The ancient legal documents written by the prophet Marukh.
  2. The tenets of the Alessian Order.

The former were written as legal codes, and stated that "all are guilty until they have proven themselves innocent",[1] and forbid "trafficke with daimons", without actually explaining what exactly a "daimon" is.[2] The latter, however, were written as religious codes which brought about the creation of the modern Tamrielic pantheon,[3] saw to the eradication of Elven rule of Tamriel, and eventually saw to the destruction of Ayleid religious presence in Tamriel, including, rather notably, the destruction of the ancient Ayleid temple of Malada (the High Fane) in 1E 393.[4]
