The area in which the Dragontail Mountains are found

The Dragontail Mountains form a large region in Hammerfell, south of Iliac Bay. The mountain range acts as a border for many other regions, including Tigonus, the Alik'r Desert, Santaki, Dak'fron, Lainlyn, Kozanset, Totambu, and Mournoth, and it completely surrounds Ephesus.[1] The provincial seat is the city of Dragontail.

The Empress Kintyra Septim II crossed the Dragontail Mountains with an army during her ill-fated attempt to crush her aunt, the Wolf Queen Potema, during the War of the Red Diamond.[2] It is inhabited mostly by Orcs and Redguards. However, it was considered unconquered territory until 3E 417, when the Miracle of Peace brought it under the control of Sentinel.[3] Legends say that Diagna, Orichalc God of the Sideways Blade, resides within the mountains.[4] The Scenarist Guild is based out of a citadel nestled high in the mountain range, protected from trespassers by a magical barrier.[5] The dominant vampire bloodline of the region is Khulari.
