Kastav was the second emperor of the Reman Dynasty. Details of his life and reign are scarce, other than some branding him as an incompetent ruler.[1] In 1E 2801 Kastav ordered the Dragonguard of Sky Haven Temple to seize hostages from Markarth and Hroldan to ensure that the jarls met their conscription quotas.[2] In 1E 2804, the Emperor cut off supplies to the temple when they refused to help suppress the Winterhold Rebellion.[2] In their stead, an Akaviri that was rejected by the Dragonguard, Kalien, was sent by the Emperor to put down the rebellion, which subsequently led to Winterhold being sacked and Sky Haven Temple being put under siege.[2] His poor handling of the Winterhold Rebellion led to his deposition in 1E 2804, and he was succeeded by Reman II.[1]
He lived for several years in exile alongside his honor guard, dying in the Murkmire region of Black Marsh in 1E 2812.[3] By the Fourth Era, a military fort in the Winterhold region of Skyrim bore his name.[4]
