[edit] Quick Walkthrough
- Ask Caius Cosades in Balmora for your orders until he tells you to report to Hasphat Antabolis.
- Talk with Hasphat Antabolis. He lives in the Fighters Guild, north of the Mages Guild in the center of town. Hasphat will be in the training room.
- To get him to give you the information, you must bring him a Dwemer puzzle box from the Dwemer ruins of Arkngthand.
- Find the ruins north of Moonmoth Legion Fort.
- Find the bandits' leader in the Cells of Hollow Hand, kill him, and take the Dwemer puzzle box on the left.
- Receive the notes for Caius from Hasphat upon returning the puzzle box.
- Return to Caius Cosades.
- Speak with Hasphat again to get a key which opens the lower levels of Arkngthand
[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Hasphat Antobolis
Your first task from Caius is to talk with Hasphat Antabolis at the Balmora Fighters Guild and ask him about the Nerevarine and Sixth House secret cults. The Fighters Guild is pretty much in the center of town and Hasphat is downstairs in the training room. Of course he wants you to do a favor for him before he tells you what you want to know. All you have to do is obtain a Dwemer puzzle box from a local ruin, Arkngthand.
[edit] Travel to Arkngthand
Fortunately, Hasphat can also give you detailed directions to the ruin upon request. Although they will not appear in the journal entry, Index 5, detailing his instructions, selecting 'Arkngthand' from that respective entry will recall his exact directions to the ruin.
- Leave Balmora from the southern entrance, and head east.
- You will reach a fork in the road around Moonmoth Legion Fort, which has about three roads to choose from. Choose the one heading north-east towards Molag Mar.
- If you have chosen the correct path, you will soon approach an ancient Dwemer bridge crossing Foyada Mamaea. Kill the bandit, Snowy Granius, on it, and continue.
- Shortly after the end of the bridge, you will see a Dwemer ruin on your right. This is Arkngthand. Turn the crank handle, and proceed inside.
[edit] Ruins of Arkngthand
The ruins here are large and easy to become lost in, but you don't need to explore the entire ruin to find the puzzle box. Follow the circular path around the outside of the large room to the bottom. When you finally get there, you will see two bandits, Frink Ruuz and Surus Velvus, that you will need to exterminate; they should have a few items on them. You should then notice a rock pile that allows you to climb to the second floor to the west of the room. Go up it and then enter the door on your left to the Cell of Hollow Hand. Inside is a bandit called Boss Crito. Kill him any way you'd like to, take his stuff, including a few scrolls and potions, then pick up the puzzle box on the shelves on the left hand side of the room. While you're here, take anything you can get your hands on in the rooms you've explored; you should net around 1,000 gold for all the items. Once you pick up the puzzle box, your journal will be updated, and you should make your way back to the Fighters Guild in Balmora.
[edit] Return to Hasphat
Returning the puzzle box to Hasphat will get you the information that Caius requested. It appears that the lost Sixth House is House Dagoth who betrayed the other Great Houses during the War of the First Council and was destroyed. He gives you some notes for Caius as well as references to some books for more information. As for the Nerevarine Cult, it seems that the Ashlanders believe that a reborn Nerevar will unite the Dunmer against outlander invaders and restore the Dunmer nation. Nerevar is actually a legendary hero and saint of the Tribunal Temple, although the Temple denies the prophecy, actually persecuting those who believe in the Nerevarine. Hasphat says that Sharn gra-Muzgob would be a good person to talk to about this topic. Return to Caius and deliver the information to him.
[edit] Tips
- As an extra, if you return to Hasphat later, he will give you a key for use on the lower levels of Arkngthand, (in case you don't have a good Security skill or Open spell). The key can be used to open a locked (32) door from Heaven's Gallery into Land's Blood Gallery.
- Be cautious when fighting Snowy Granius, the bandit on the bridge. He will summon a skeleton and hurl magicka at you. Focus on the bandit, and try to ignore the skeleton.
- Nothing will prevent you from reading the information given to you by Hasphat Antabolis.
- After returning the puzzle box to Hasphat, you can talk to him about Dwemer then Dwemer Sites to mark the Nchuleftingth and Mzuleft ruins on your map. If his disposition is sufficiently high, you can then talk to him about Nchuleftingth to obtain a letter of introduction that you can give to Senilias Cadiusus.
