[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Almoner Mission
Iulus Truptor at the Imperial Chapels in Ebonheart will ask you to collect a promised pledge of 500 gold from Cunius Pelelius, owner of the Caldera Mine.
[edit] Donation from Cunius Pelelius
Cunius can be found just inside the door to the Governor's Hall. You can talk to him, and persuade him all you want, but you'll find he won't agree to give anything to you. There are two ways of blackmailing him into donating the pledge:
- Of all the people in the Hall, only Olumba gro-Boglar in the South Hall upstairs will be of any assistance. Olumba will tell you that Cunius is solving his money troubles by skimming from the ebony mine and smuggling ebony. If you visit the mine to the south-west of Caldera and speak with the slaves, this rumor will be verified (you may need to persuade the slaves to talk). Return to Cunius with this information.
- If you go through the door to your right (if standing behind his desk) and go up the stairs, you'll come to Odral Helvi's bedroom. You can go through the door on the left and up the stairs also, you end up in Odral Helvi's office, just continue on to the next room. You need a pretty good Security skill, but there is a chest with a ledger in it for the mine. Take the book back to Pelelius and use the option "show him the book".
Both ways will squeeze three pieces of Raw Ebony from him, which you should be able to sell for more than 500 gold (depending on your Mercantile skill).
Return to Iulus with the money to receive the following scrolls: Scroll of Black Despair, Scroll of Elevram's Sty, Scroll of Lord Mhas' Vengeance, Scroll of Savage Might, Scroll of The Gambler's Prayer, Scroll of Alvusia's Warping.
[edit] Notes
- Alternatively, you can just pay the 500 gold pledge yourself, up front, if you can afford it.
- If you find the ledger in Odral Helvi's chest before you should do so, you will not be able to confront him with your findings - you will not be able to talk to him about the slaves' observations or the ledger so your only option would be to pay the sum yourself.
[edit] Bugs
- If you chose to pay the 500 gold yourself, you won't be able to talk to Cunius anymore; he'll just dismiss you with a "Goodbye."

|---|---|---|
| IC13_fight | 1 | When I demanded that Cunius Pelelius deliver the money he had promised, he took offense, and attacked me. Now there is no chance that Cunius Pelelius will give me 500 gold for the Widows and Orphans Fund. |
| IC13_rumor | 1 | Olumba gro-Boglar, a member of the Imperial cult, told me why Cunius Pelelius is slow to redeem his pledged donation. Olumba says Cunius Pelelius has gotten into money trouble, and that he's trying to handle his trouble by skimming from the Caldera mine and smuggling raw ebony. I might be able to pressure Cunius Pelelius if I had proof of his misdeeds. Olumba says the slaves in the mine would know, but they'll be afraid to talk. Perhaps I can persuade them.... |
| IC13_slave | 1 | I spoke to a slave in the Caldera Mines, and he said the 'boss man' sneaks in at night, takes ebony, puts it in a bag, then takes it away. Perhaps this is not solid enough evidence to take to the guards. But perhaps, if confronted with this testimony, Cunius Pelelius may reconsider his unwillingness to donate 500 gold to the Widows and Orphans Fund. |
