- Place the Bittergreen in the cauldron
- Return to Taros and the Shrine of Mephala
[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Finding the shrine
Mephala's shrine can be difficult to find, as it is not located along with the usual setting for Daedric Shrines. It is hidden in the secret Morag Tong headquarters in the Storage Area of the Canalworks in the Arena Canton of Vivec. It is also the only shrine that does not feature a statue of the Daedra Lord the shrine is devoted to (Its appearance is not unlike an Imperial Cult altar.)
[edit] Sensitive Matters
Speak to Taros Dral about sensitive manners. He will not say much up front, just something about Mephala giving him information which must be acted upon. If you inquire further, you'll learn that Mephala wishes you to poison Balyn Omavel, an important member of the Morag Tong who has been performing assasinations without writs. Dral will supply Treated Bittergreen Petals to put in Omavel's food.
[edit] Travel to Balmora & enter unseen
Omavel can be found in Balmora, on the 2nd floor of the northernmost house in the middle rank of structures east of the river. Omavel is wandering around around the front, and if he sees you the quest will be ruined. In order to sneak into his house unseen, use the trapdoor found on the roof of the house. Once inside, activate the cauldron on the west wall to poison it. Escape the same way you entered, being sure not to be spotted by Omavel.
[edit] Return for your reward
Return to Dral and he'll tell you to speak to the shrine. Do so and you will receive the Ring of Khajiit as a reward. If you return to Omavel's house, you'll find him dead on the floor.
[edit] Notes
- While this quest involves the Morag Tong, and starts within their headquarters, you do not actually need to be a member to do it. It's certainly easier to do the quest as a member, as joining the guild gives you a free Disposition boost with Taros Dral, but a high Personality or little Persuasion will work as well.
- Balyn Omavel may wander away from his home. If he's far enough away from his home, he won't see you, whichever entrance you use (You can tell if he's seen you, because you'll get a journal entry saying that you've failed.).
- A glitch may occur that involves you finding Balyn dead inside his home before you have poisoned him. This should not prevent the quest's completion, just poison the pot as usual and report back to Taros Dral.
- Balyn's name is mis-spelled "Omarel" on his house. It is the correct house.
