1. Speak to Odral Helvi to learn your next assignment.
2. Ask around the town about some stolen documents.
3. Speak to Irgola and Elmussa Damori.
4. Confront Elmussa.
5. Either kill Elmussa or let her escape.
6. Return to Odral Helvi.

[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

[edit] Business

Odral Helvi in the Goverenor's Hall in Caldera will ask you to recover some stolen Caldera Mining Contracts from the Caldera Mine and find the thief.

[edit] The Thief

Asking around town will point you to the two newest people in town: Irgola and Elmussa Damori. Irgola denies any involvement, but Damori is somewhat less convincing. If you raise Damori's disposition to around 80 she will admit to the theft and give you the documents.

[edit] A Plead for Mercy

Although you are supposed to kill her, Damori will plead with you not to tell Helvi it was her and to spare her life. She is in the Thieves Guild and will also say that killing her will make you lose standing and just give you a key to get into the chest. Crassius Curio will also recommend letting her go free. It's up to you, and you can let her live and lie successfully to Helvi if your disposition with him is higher than 70.

[edit] Return to Helvi

Return to Helvi to complete the quest. If you killed Elmussa he will be pleased, and reward you. If you let Elmussa escape, then lie to Helvi, he will either reward you (with 70+ Disposition), or ask you again. If you let Elmussa escape, then tell Helvi the truth, he will be surprised, but still reward you (though less greatly).

If you kill Elmussa:

• 1000 Drakes
• 2 Scrolls of Golnara's Eye-Maze
• 2 Scrolls of The Fourth Barrier
• + 20 Disp., +5 Hlaalu Faction Reputation, +1 Reputation.

If you let Elmussa escape then tell the truth:

• 1000 Drakes
• + 10 Disp., +10 Hlaalu Faction Reputation, +1 Reputation.

If you let Elmussa escape then lie (requires 70+ disposition):

• 500 Drakes
• +5 Disp., +10 Hlaalu Faction Reputation, +1 Reputation.

[edit] Notes

• If you turn the thief in, and you are in the Thieves Guild, you will no longer recieve services from guild members you don't outrank (i.e., the stewards).
