Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Meet the half-naked Barbarian Botrir west of Indoranyon, south-southeast of Vos.
  2. Find and kill the witch Iveri Llothri.
  3. Decide what to do with the axe.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Another Naked Man?[edit]

Botrir can be found standing on the path just outside Hanud, south-southeast of Vos. Like Hlormar Wine-Sot and Hisin Deep-Raed he has had a run-in with a witch. He was escorting Iveri Llothri to Tel Aruhn when she turned on him, placed him under a curse, and stole his clothing and gold. Most importantly, she also stole his ancestral axe: Widowmaker. He asks you for your help in the matter, saying that the witch ran off to the northwest.

Finding the Witch[edit]

The witch's campsite is not too far in that direction, but beyond Andalor Ancestral Tomb and an encampment of rogue Ashlanders. (With Botrir in tow, you may want to tend to the encampment and tomb at some other time.)

If you arrive without Botrir, and have adequate Personality, you can discuss most anything other than Widowmaker or Botrir with Iveri, but she otherwise leaves you little choice in your options: She attacks you, if you and Botrir approach together. Botrir will likewise attack her and you can aid him, take the brunt of her attack while he kills her, or watch Iveri kill him if you can avoid her detecting your presence.

Widowmaker[edit]

Once the witch is dead, loot her corpse to find the axe. If you give the axe to the barbarian you will receive a bonus to your Axe skill. If you decide to keep the axe, Botrir will attack you. You could hand the axe over for the skill bonus and then kill him to take back the weapon. Alternatively, just pick his pocket and take the axe right back.

The skill lesson won't increase your axe skill level over 100.

Notes[edit]

  • You can pick Botrir's pocket once the quest is over and take Widowmaker back from him. If you mention the axe to him again after doing this, you get the same keep/hand over choice as earlier, with the difference being that even handing the axe back to him causes Botrir's disposition to drop by 20, and his Fight attribute to increase by ten.

10 Botrir is a Nord barbarian I met on my travels. I found him nearly naked and extremely angry.
20 Apparently, Botrir was escorting a young woman, Iveri Llothri, to Bal Ur, when she apparently ensorcelled him and took his prized axe, Widowmaker. He is out for the witch's blood, and would like my help in recovering his axe. As she has taken all of his armor, it is no surprise he needs the help. He's big, but doesn't seem too sharp.
30 I've agreed to go with Botrir to recover Widowmaker. The witch apparently headed northwest, so that is the direction in which we should probably travel to find her.
40 Finishes quest☑ I've decided not to get involved in the affairs of this barbarian and the witch that stole his belongings.
50 We found the witch camped not far from where I found Botrir, Iveri Llothri did indeed seem to be a powerful witch, but we were able to recover the axe.
60 I have decided that the axe is much to powerful for one the likes of Botrir to keep. There is murder in his eyes.
70 Finishes quest☑ Botrir was ecstatic about the recovery of Widowmaker, and it is easy to see why. It is a beautiful axe, and looks enchanted. I can imagine he is a formidable warrior indeed, wielding an axe such as this one. Botrir has little to me in return for my help, but he has offered to teach me something of the way of the axe. I'm certain he has much to teach when it comes to cleaving bone with that weapon.

90 Finishes quest☑ Botrir has been killed while attempting to recover his prized axe, Widowmaker. It is a shame I'll never get to see him wield it.
