This Doesn't Make Sense![edit]

Yes, a note on the page acknowledges that "You can start this quest before finishing the quest to Clear Varvur Sarethi's Name", but now that I'm playing a Redoran, I've received the quest to talk with Varvur - without having the foggiest notion who he is, or that he had a statue - my PC hasn't even finished the first of Neminda's quests concerning mudcrabs.

Having no knowledge of Varvur, I always thought the ash statue topic was about the Morvayn Ash Statue that I'm carrying around with me. Why else would the topic even come up?

I'm calling this a Bug, because Lloros shouldn't even offer the "duties" topic unless the PC knows something of Varvur. Even now that I have this quest, I've come here because I was hard put to find an NPC who would even tell me anything about Varvur.

I had asked Lloros about Ash Statues when I was playing a Telvanni and was only told it was none of an outlander's concern. Why on Morrowind should the Temple make such a distinction between House factions?!?

This quest is so artificially contrived that it ruins the story line. Downstrike (talk) 07:08, 26 February 2013 (GMT)

Contrary to the notation on the revert, the Note in the article does NOT say that you may start this quest at any time. Instead, it says that you may start it during the "Clear Varvur Sarethi's Name" quest.
Neither does it, or any other part of the article, adequately describe the untimely conditions under which the player may receive this quest.
Therefore, unless there is adequate explanation why the two reverted items are not bugs, I will reinstate the reverted bug entries.
If there is adequate reason that these entries are not bugs, then the article's Note still needs to be corrected. Downstrike (talk) 20:50, 26 February 2013 (GMT)
As a member of the temple, the "duties" should show up and he should give you the quest as a temple quest. As a member of House Redoran, the quest should show up as a part of the House questline. As a member of neither the temple nor the House, you shouldn't get the quest. At least, that is my understanding of it. Am I correct? Were you a member of the temple? Yes, I was a member of the Temple, but had not completed the 7 Graces; Lloros reminded me of that when I asked for "duties", (trying to get more info about Varvur from him), so I didn't qualify for further quests. That is a contradiction!
To this day I still would know nothing of Varvur if I hadn't looked him up in the Wiki. Meanwhile, I have yet to qualify for this quest as a Redoran, because I've never gotten around to completing their first quest.
Further, it is the game's responsibility to inform the player who Varvur is, but it hasn't, so this still looks like a bug to me. Downstrike (talk) 23:37, 18 March 2013 (GMT)

There should be a disambiguation page[edit]

Ash Statue is an item. Ash Statue is also the name of a quest. I came here looking for Ash Statue (item) to see if it was needed for any quests (I found one in Dren Manor in the cellar) — Unsigned comment by 68.38.87.136 (talk) at 06:59 on 8 March 2013 (GMT)

There isn't one because with the exception of a few quest specific ones that all have unique names, all Ash Statues are just random junk items found in 6th house locations and have zero use. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 06:59, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
We could still add a note about it. Something along the lines of what Wikipedia adds at the top on an article when that article takes precedence over another. -- Kertaw48 (talk) 08:05, 8 March 2013 (GMT)

Galtis Guvron does not have to he killed[edit]

The article indicates that Galtis must be killed. This is inaccurate. It is possible to knock out the NPC using hand-to-hand, and pickpocket the note while his is unconscious. Obtaining the note this way will fulfill the quest requirement as sufficiently as the easier alternative option of killing him. An additional suggestion is regarding an overhall of the many similar pages that phrase the killing an NPC as the only option. In many cases, finding a nonlethal alternative should be referenced. An even higher-level suggestion is that uespwiki should provide a way for nonmembers to alert them of page errors -- if the highest level of accuracy is a high priority for the website. Many folks are knowledgeable, but do not want to be forced to join in order to alert the powers-that-be of innaccuracies. Using this talk page us not a legitimate means to provide independent feedback because it publishes the IP address of posters who do not wish to join the "club". HCase-in-point, although I have noticed several innaccuracies in articles, this will be my only attempt at alerting the writers until an alternative contact option is offered (or if it alreafy exists, is made more noticeable). Hence, at present, the webpage has a more limited source of knowledgeable feedback than it could have if it made anonymous error-reporting possible (similar to websites that only take reviews from their small pool of members -- handicapping and skewing the level of accuracy). — Unsigned comment by 99.129.85.37 (talk) at 18:27 on 25 July 2016 (UTC)

IP editing is as anonymous as you're gonna get. You can also give feedback here on the forums, but that also requires creating an account. As for the hand-to-hand option, it's not really notable in this situation since it achieves nothing. I've added this note to our article on hand-to-hand combat instead. —Legoless (talk) 19:15, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
