[edit] Where?

I would like to suggest a page that list the whereabouts of the armor.

For the hard to find stuff, there is a list over at Rare Items. - Vathelokai 23:19, 8 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] How many?

I think it should show the count of how many of this item exist in game in the table.—Sam324 11:28, 26 April 2008 (EDT)

If you mean the rare items, their page already lists al the locations so listing the amount isn't really necessary, if you mean the standard items, they are random so the number is different each time. --Volanaro 11:36, 26 April 2008 (EDT)
..And even the ones that aren't random or rare are usually not worth counting simply becuase they are common enough that the value itself would have no meaning. --HMSVictoryTalk

[edit] Heavy Leather Boots

Heavy Leather Boots: Are they seriously armor 50? (Fightswithrat 01:34, 13 May 2008 (EDT))

Yes. Just checked. –RpehTCE 02:26, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Where exactly can they be found? The reason I ask this is because they are not listed under Morrowind:Rare Items, which is strange considering that I have never come across them during my time spent playing this game. The same goes for the Leather Bracers, though I assume the bracers are more common than the Heavy Leather Boots. If anyone could post a list of possible locations for the Heavy Leather Boots, I would be very appreciative. Thank you for your time. --67.166.207.210 15:41, 6 November 2008 (EST)

Hmm, I was going to say they're just not valuable enough to be featured on Rare Items, but apparently they're as strong as Glass Boots (though heavier and less enchantable), and considerably harder to find. Here's a list of places you can find them:
And that's it. They're not found in any leveled lists, so you won't see them in random loot. --TheRealLurlock Talk 16:10, 6 November 2008 (EST)
Bracers: there are a few people that wear them and they're in a leveled list but there are leather bracers in Serano Ancestral Tomb and Andalen Ancestral Tomb. –RpehTCE 01:10, 7 November 2008 (EST)
Okay, but unlike the boots, I don't see any reason to add them to the Rare Items page - besides being found in a leveled list making them more common, they're not particularly valuable, so people aren't as likely to want to find them. That page should be reserved for items which are both rare and useful. If you start adding stuff that's just rare, it would go on forever. --TheRealLurlock Talk 08:53, 7 November 2008 (EST)

[edit] Revamp Redirects

I'm proposing changing all of the individual armor redirects that point to this page to instead point to the various style pages. For example, the redirect at Ebony Cuirass would be changed from Morrowind:Base Armor#Ebony Cuirass to Morrowind:Ebony#Ebony Cuirass. The basic reason is that a redirect for a given item should point to the location that contains the most comprehensive information on that item. The style pages now contain far more information than the Base Armor page (description of the style/material, images, locations of rare items, links to related enchanted items, etc.). The other alternative, namely adding that information to the Base Armor page, would be highly redundant and also impossible for practical reasons (the resulting page would be far too large to load).

The only disadvantage I can see to changing the redirects is that it would be harder to compare the items to other similar items (e.g., the Ebony Cuirass would not be shown in a table with all of the other medium cuirasses). However, it seems to me that it is just as likely that a reader interested in an Ebony Cuirass would want to see the other Ebony items. In addition, the tables on the style pages all include links to the the Base Armor page, so the additional information is just a click away. On the other hand, there are currently no links from this page to the style pages -- which is one reason for several of the questions previously posted to this talk page. It is not apparent to readers that there may be additional information about the items listed here.

Updating all of the redirects will be a bot job, so it won't really be too difficult to implement. However, I wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking any complications before making such a large-scale change. I'm also proposing a similar change to the weapons, at Morrowind talk:Base Weapons#Revamp Redirects. --NepheleTalk 17:01, 16 November 2008 (EST)

[edit] effective Armor rating

How is the effective armor rating calculated? On the heavy armor page it says that with maxxed heavy armor skill you'll get an armor rating of 266 from daedric, but daedric is listed as only having a rating of 80. Same with light or medium armor - how do you get 168 light armor rating from 50(glass armor)? -Meisterdieb 18:49, 16 January 2009 (EST)

 Calculations: Armor Rating, Spell Chance
 To determine your Armor Rating:
 by Monica21 & Elric_Melnibone
 BaseAR * ( ArmorSkill / 30 )
This will give you the armor rating for an individual piece of armor. Assume a character has a Light Armor skill of 91 and wears only Light Armor, all pieces with a base AR of 50.
50 * ( 91 / 30 ) = 151.67 AR for each piece. The game will round this down, and the individual AR will appear as 151.
To determine your total AR, multiply each armor piece by its weighted factor, and then total them. The factors (shown as Percent of Total Armor Rating) are actually listed incorrectly in the manual. Following are the correct weight factors:
 Cuirass - 30%
 Shield - 10%
 Helm - 10%
 Greaves - 10%
 Boots - 10%
 RPauldron - 10%
 LPauldron - 10%
 RGauntlet/Bracer - 5%
 LGauntlet/Bracer - 5%
(I tested these factors on my own character. Wearing just the cuirass, her AR should have been 60 with a factor of 0.40, but it's actually 45, the same as if the factor was 0.30.)
For the cuirass, multiply (151 * 0.30). This equals 45. Repeat for each piece of armor you have equipped, and then total the numbers. If your character does not wear a helm or equip a shield, the total AR will be 121.
NOTE: These numbers do not take into account how your Unarmored skill factors in for any unarmored body parts, and the numbers also assume fully repaired armor.

To determine your Unarmored Armor Rating:
 ( UnarmoredSkill * 0.10) * ( UnarmoredSkill * 0.065 )
Assuming that your Unarmored skill is 100, this will yield a max AR of 65, with no armored body parts.

Not mine, but I did minimal tests to confirm. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 03:32, 17 January 2009 (EST)

[edit] Wonder: Imperial heavy and medium

How it came to be that there is armour rating 20 for Imperial Chain Pauldrons, but only 16 for Imperial Steel Pauldrons? And the price goes high for Steel? More, the chain (for pauldrons) is rated as heavy type armour. And once more, the Chain greaves and chain curiass are medium on the other hand. I though that the whole set should be marked as one type (either medium or heavy, but whole set). Still wonder. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Janmojzis (talkcontribs).

The fact that the pauldrons are marked as heavy armor is widely considered a bug, and is corrected by various unofficial patches. Why they have a better AR is another question, but it may simply have been set high so that the guards would wear the pauldrons. --Gaebrial 06:46, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
