Actually, I have recieved spells with the Corprus effect before. For instance, when I was making the woman with the Robe of Drake's Pride, I recieved "Ash Curse: Spell Points", a spell which gives the caster corprus. So, isn't it possible to get corprus without doing the main quest? I might even be able to make a constant effect corprus shield, or something silly like that. --Odul

This spell is a strange anomaly. The spell gives the CASTER Corprus, not the TARGET. Senise Thindo is the ONLY person who has this spell (or the other two Ash Curses for Fatigue and Health), and since she does not sell spells, there is no way you can acquire them yourself. It won't give you Corprus if she casts them on you, it will give HER Corprus - but only for 1 second. Thus, for all practical purposes, there is still no way to get this spell effect other than the Main Quest. If you were able to get this spell for yourself, it's because a mod made it available to you, as there is no way you'd acquire it otherwise. --TheRealLurlock ^Talk 23:06, 14 October 2007 (EDT)

I've only played on Xbox, and I had recieved a message as I killed Senise Thindo that I had recieved the spell, and it was suddenly in my spell list. I was unable to cast it at the time due to magicka limits, but I assure you that I did have the spell, with no help from mods or witches whatsoever, on Xbox non-goty.--Odul, again.

That's really weird. I don't know what would cause that - Senise Thindo has no scripts on her, and these spells are not mentionned in any scripts anywhere. And you don't normally receive spells from people when killing them no matter what. One thing I do notice, though, is that this spell has 2 effects, one of which is a Touch and the other is a Self range spell. The reason that stands out to me is because it's precisely the same combination that results in a glitch which causes spell effects to be permanent (commonly referred to as the "Soultrap Glitch", because people most often use Soultrap as one of the effects, even though it works just as well with other effects.) I'm wondering if she maybe cast this spell on you immediately prior to her death, and it somehow caused a glitch which bestowed the spell into your inventory? If so, it's clearly a related glitch, though not one you'd be able to count on. I'd try getting an old save, and try killing her over and over again to see if you can reproduce the glitch, because I'm almost certain that this is not supposed to happen, and most likely does not happen most of the time.

At any rate, even if you did have this spell and were able to cast it, you'd only give yourself Corprus for 1 second, after which it would go away like any other temporary effect. You could go to a spellmaker and make a longer duration of the effect, but you'd still end up with only a temporary Corprus effect, not the actual disease. As well, all of the secondary effects of Corprus disease - the Drain and Fortify Attribute effects that come with it - would not occur. The Corprus effect itself does not actually DO anything. It just makes an icon appear on your active-effects list to show that you have Corprus, and I think possibly affects how people react to you. I have long since lost that save, thanks to Gamestop's "trade in your Xbox for a discount on the 360" program, but now that Morrowind is playable on 360 I'll try to reproduce it the best I can. The main thing that stuck in my memory about this was that a message appeared in the corner of the screen, much like "your journal has been updated", telling me the spell had been added to my list of known spells. Maybe my Xbox just had a ghost in it. --Odul

One possibility (which somebody may be able to check) is that "Ash Curse: Spell Points" is set up as a disease, so you can contract it when fighting her. --Gaebrial 02:56, 6 November 2007 (EST)

It's not, and you can't. It's a regular, castable spell, and the Corprus effect is on the caster, not the target. I honestly have no idea what the intention was behind these three spells, as they don't seem to have any practical purpose. --TheRealLurlock ^Talk 09:18, 6 November 2007 (EST)

Well, I can't explain why the player can obtain the spell Ash Curse by fighting Senise Thindo, but I know that almost exactly the same thing happened with one of my characters. I got a message stating that Ash Curse: Fatigue had been added to my spell book. I didn't recognize the oddness of this until I tried to do some enchanting, and found Corprus in the list of available effects. While I do run my Morrowind GOTY with a few mods, such as the unofficial patches, BB and BC, the fact that the same thing happened to Odul on the Xbox seems to indicate that this is not a mod related issue.--Quill 09:13, 4 February 2008 (EST)

Yes, you can get at least "Ash Curse: Spell Points" and "Ash Curse: Fatigue" from Senise Thindo when you fight her. I only got these two, but presumably "Ash Curse: Health" is in her repertoire, as well. I believe I also got one of spell from her when I tried to pick pocket her. When I then cast one of the spells, giving myself Corpus, and go to look at the active spell effects, Corpus is there. But when I check info on the spell (pressing Y on the Corpus spell on the xbox 360) the game locks up and has to be rebooted. The Corpus effect does not seem permanent, so it doesn't boost your stats of effect NPC's dispositions. I have since tried to repeat the glitch, and while I get the message "You have contracted Ash Curse: Spell Points", nothing shows up in my spell list. I have a save right before the fight, so I've tried a couple times and can't repeat it. Not that a glitchy spell that crashes my game is all that desirable!

Just to clarify: I noted that contracting Corprus off Tanusea Veloth prevents you from completing the Main Quest from memory (which may be faulty), because I seem to remember that if you do catch it off her, Caius will act like he has already sent you to see Divayth Fyr, but you can't get Fyr to cure you.--Gaebrial 02:56, 6 November 2007 (EST)

There is a discussion on that on the UESP forums, here. It basically states that if you contract Corprus form serching the corpse of Tanussea, Fyr can't cure you, and your Main Quest is ruined. --Benould^•T•C 18:34, 26 April 2008 (EDT)
