Can't Find Ashanammu[edit]

I can't find this location called Ashanammu --ShakenMike 03:35, 21 February 2007 (EST)

It's on your right just before you enter the mine pit. --DrPhoton 08:50, 21 February 2007 (EST)
What city or town is this mine near?--ShakenMike 13:13, 21 February 2007 (EST)
Just follow the instructions on the quest walkthrough! --DrPhoton 03:59, 22 February 2007 (EST)
I have to find the quest first but not sure what page it's on(I have lots of quests to do in this game)--ShakenMike 15:24, 22 February 2007 (EST)
It's in the main article of this talk page, just here Morrowind:Telvanni Agents. --DrPhoton 08:37, 23 February 2007 (EST)
Ok thanks and I'll take a look.Is there a map for the location of the dungeon?--ShakenMike 00:28, 24 February 2007 (EST)
Look at Morrowind:Maps. --DrPhoton 13:08, 25 February 2007 (EST)

Quest Not Skipped[edit]

The page says this quest would be skipped over, but I was still given this quest, despite having completed The Bitter Cup and returned to Jim before asking for more orders from Eydis. RaphX 07:52, 21 February 2009 (EST)

Edit war[edit]

This line has been changed multiple times so I'm putting it here to see if a change is necessary,

The newer version

They will attack immediately once you're in sight if you're not a member of the Thieves Guild. They are grouped together so be prepared. This will not affect your membership to the Thieves Guild.

The original

They will attack as soon as they see you, and they are grouped together, so be prepared

The newer version seems to directly contradict an existing note. I don't believe this is true though I have yet to do this quest. If anyone knows that the existing version is inaccurate please provide the evidence to back up your claim so a new consensus may be made. --AKB Talk 04:46, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

They have always attacked me, even when I am a guild member. This is to be expected, since their Attack number is 90. They do not have any special script which would handle guild members differently. --Brf 04:50, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I just did that quest and they went after me, but I wasn't apart of the Thieves guild. I went back to Balmora after killing them and I was still able to join the Thieves guild --Rent A Troop 04:55, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

The false info you are adding is that they will not attack you if you are Thieves guild member. That is not true. They still attack you. --Brf 04:58, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I made a post on Brf's talk page containing video proof of the Telvanni agents not attacking and also other clues such as screen shots of the characters in a calm stance, but he deleted that post so ill place the links here. There's something going on here and the current information that Brf believes is correct has too many holes in it.

The videos mean nothing. It is simple to keep hostiles from attacking you by raising your disposition artificially, or by being invisible.
If you do not believe me, then join the Thieves Guild before doing this quest. You will see they still attack you. --Brf 05:20, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

() First off let me start out by saying I loved it how you implied this was a conspiracy to insert false information on a wiki (Which we all know is impossible as all false or mind altering information is strictly controlled by the Cabal and you would had been eliminated as soon as you came close to the truth ), but as it is I see no holes in Brf's story. It is not proof the fact that pictures exist of them not attacking and the article says it would effect your existing membership in the thieves guild, not your potential future membership. As for the matter about being able to join the thieves guild after doing this quest I only see that as notable if it made it impossible to join the guild, not the other way around. --AKB Talk 05:47, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Well I took Fothyna Herothran's picture, and I did it using the tai console command. The big hole in Rent A Troop's story is that Alynu Aralen isn't in the Thieves Guild at all. It's theoretically possible that the other two won't attack (although I'm almost certain that I've done this quest while in the TG and they've attacked) but there's nothing stopping Aralen. rpeh •TCE 07:18, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
In fact, I just tried it with my game saved right before the quest. I was a Ringleader in the Thieves Guild (so just 2 levels off the top), I went into the cave with all weapons sheathed, and they all still attacked me at once. rpeh •TCE 07:26, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

So it's 2 against 1, but thats ok because I'm going to travel back in time to 2002 and we'll see what Steve Miller says. This is from his guide:

"Talk to the person standing guard (Alveleg) about the Telvanni agents, once you do, he will attack you, Kill him and enter the cave "Ashanammu". Follow the cave until you come to three people standing around, these are the remaining agents. Speak with on about the Telvanni Agents to get them to attack, then kill them all."

http://www.gamershell.com/faqs/theelderscrolls3morrowindwalkthrough/1.7/

Originally I thought the agents standing around was apart of the game's continuity, but apparently this hasn't happen for a lot of people and its actually a rare anomaly or quirk. I wouldn't be here right now making this absurd sounding claim if it didn't happen to me and I wouldn't be discussing this on the Telvanni Agents talk page if someone opened a line of communication and followed the Etiquette standards. The first course of action should of been communicating directly with me on my talk page. Instead I was threaten with a ban and accused of a conspiracy to place false information on this wiki by the inept user Brf. I am also calling my original edit as wrong. However with the new evidence, I am saying what I experienced and steve miller experienced could have something to do with the character's overall reputation or its a possible bug. If it is a possible bug that's going to add more questions, what is the bug? I am currently following up on some leads, but I'm being stalked by user Brf, hes also telling me what I can or cannot do on here like this is a pecking order. I don't think these leads will pan out any time soon, but till they do we can just wait for another person to come forward who also experienced this quirk. --Rent A Troop 06:08, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

I honestly can't believe you're citing a nine-year-old GameFAQ...
Here is my saved game. I'm a Ringleader in the Thieves Guild, and all three agents in the cave attack. That's all the proof I need. rpeh •TCE 06:45, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
i know the faq is 9 years old. when was the last official patch for the game? wasn't july 2002 which is the version im playing with. its hard to accept it, but its not ok to see it from one direction. --Rent A Troop 08:15, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
I just tried it with rpeh's save. Though it said I was a captain, not a ringleader. Regardless, I learned two things while I was doing the quest.
1. Rpeh is infinitely superior to me when it comes to playing Morrowind.
2. The agents attack you even if you are a member of the Thieves Guild. --AKB Talk 14:24, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Apologies, I was looking at the Next rank, not the current one. Yes, you're a captain with that save.
I'm glad you're impressed with my save :) rpeh •TCE 14:32, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

() Taking a look at the CS, I can see the three in the cave do indeed have the same Telvanni Agents dialog option that Alveleg has. Perhaps the Fight characteristic of those three was lower in an earlier version of the game, or it was just that way to fix the problem of a high disposition preventing them from attacking. I am not sure how much disposition it might take to overcome a 90 Fight value, or if it is even possible with Alynu Aralen, who is not a member of any faction. Perhaps the walkthrough he was using as a guide is based on an earlier, unreleased, version of the game where their Fight was lower. --Brf 15:13, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

I just looked at the stats in the vanilla (non-GotY) version and they're the same. These aren't the only NPCs with unused dialogue. rpeh •TCE 15:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

I had a good laugh at rpeh when I saw this dialog.

If you're wondering how I got it, Curiosity made me do it.

You guys can do what you please with the photo obviously. I think its a minor detail that a lot of people don't know about

I'm all done with this subject

--Rent A Troop 01:28, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

You can laugh at me all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm right and you're wrong. I don't dispute that some of those NPCs are in the Thieves Guild - our NPC pages are quite accurate. They still attack you on sight, though. I think we've proved that quite conclusively. I'm not laughing at you: I'm sighing and shaking my head at the innate stupidity of some people. rpeh •TCE 02:54, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
