Adamus Phillida is a commander in the Imperial Legion originally stationed in the Imperial City.

When you progress in the Dark Brotherhood Quest line, he will retire and take up residence in the City Watch barracks in Leyawiin. He spends most of his time in a house just outside the city walls (before mentioned City Watch barracks), but takes a daily swim in the swimming hole just inside the city walls.

If you return to Leyawiin after the quest has been completed, you can find the body of his bodyguard, who committed suicide. If you happen to return to Leyawiin after killing Adamus, but before officially completing the quest (by collecting your reward), the bodyguard will still be alive. He will act normally until you ask about Adamus, in which case he will take on a depressed air and say:

He... He's dead. And on my watch... I've failed... Failed everyone...

The bodyguard will respawn a few days after his suicide.

• After completing the Deliver the Amulet quest a note appears on the Prison Sewer entrance that says "No entry on pain of death. Sealed by authority of Commander Adamus Phillida, Imperial Legion".

• According to editions of The Black Horse Courier, Phillida denied Hieronymus Lex's requests of having a bounty put on the Gray Fox's head.

• He is said to have pursued the Dark Brotherhood his entire career (and survived three assassination attempts by them).

• It is possible to meet him in the Imperial City, where he patrols the Talos Plaza District in the evening.

• He has unique conversations with generic guards, which may be interesting to listen into.

• He wears a complete set of Imperial Watch Armor, however, it is impossible to take the armor from his corpse other than the shield. He is equipped with a silver longsword and also carries numerous keys (Claudius Arcadia's House Key, Commander's Chest Key, Imperial Watch Key, and Imperial Watch Office Key)
