The Adoring Fan is a Bosmer commoner located in the Arena District of the Imperial City. After completing the Arena questline, he will approach you, requesting to be a 'groupie' of sorts. He does not actually appear in the game until you leave the Arena Bloodworks after accepting your Raiment of Valor. The nameless fan does not fight (unless hit with a Rally spell), will flee from danger, and is notable for being one of the most annoying NPCs in the game. When giving him instructions, you have the options of allowing him to follow you, telling him to stay where he is and ordering him to return to the Arena grounds.
He wears a Dark Green Shirt, Green Felt Linens, and a pair of Huntsman Mocassins. He is armed with a steel dagger, but will almost never use it (He would rather attack with his fists in combat). He also carries a torch and two or three gold coins.

[edit] Advantages
"The Adoring Fan is not entirely useless", according to the Official Strategy Guide. For example:
- He will serve as a radar for you by fleeing when there is an enemy present and returning when it is clear.
- He will carry a torch at night or in dark places.
- It is possible to reverse-pickpocket a permanent Bound Item into his inventory, either for practical or aesthetic purposes.
- You can pickpocket the Adoring Fan to increase your Sneak skill. He does not alert the guards, although nearby witnesses may still inform the guards.
- He can be used as bait for booby traps (e.g. Oblivion Fire Towers may shoot him rather than you).
- Similarly, he can be used as a distraction for enemies (e.g. bandits may attack him instead of you).
- You can reanimate the Adoring Fan after he has died, which will cause him to fight for you.
- Casting a Rally spell with enemies nearby can cause him to fight rather than flee.
- Sadistic players may enjoy devising colorful ways in which to kill him. These include throwing him off Dive Rock, using him as live target practice, placing him in a locked room and spawning a monster via console commands and placing a bounty on his head, forcing him to fight off the local guards.
[edit] Quotes
The following dialogues are unique to the Adoring Fan:
- "By Azura! By Azura! By Azura! It's the Grand Champion! I can't believe it's you! Standing here, next to me!"
- Script notes: "Shocked with elation. Talking to himself, he's so nervous"
- "Yes, oh great and mighty Grand Champion? Is there something you need? Can I carry your weapon? Shine your boots? Backrub, perhaps?"
- Script notes: "As earnest and puppy-dog young as possible"
- "Golly, you're the best! I'm going to follow you and watch you and worship the ground you walk on! Let's go!"
- "Here? Right here? What about, say... over there? No? Right here? All right then, you're the Grand Champion! Whatever you say!"
- "Aw, gee! You sure? Okay, well, I'll be hanging around the Arena grounds if you need someone to worship the ground you walk on. Bye!"
[edit] Glitches
- It is possible for the Adoring Fan to disappear from the game after collecting a Sigil Stone. This is caused by running so far ahead of him that he has not entered the Sigillum Sanguis by the time you retrieve the Sigil Stone, resulting in him being "left behind" in a plane of Oblivion forever. This will also work if you bring him to Oblivion, tell him to wait, and then close the Oblivion gate.
- It is possible for the Adoring Fan to become trapped in Porkchop's cage when he respawns. As he is out of speaking distance, and you cannot attack through walls, this essentially deletes him from the game.
- The Adoring Fan will not follow you to the Shivering Isles, although he will reappear in the Realm if you killed him previously. If this happens, he will experience the I HAVE NO GREETING glitch. If he dies in the Shivering Isles, he will reappear in Cyrodiil. This will reset his dialogue.
- If following you into Summitmist Manor during the "Whodunit?" Dark Brotherhood quest in Skingrad, the Adoring Fan will not exit the building again. Even if killed while waiting, following, or told to go back to the Arena grounds, he will still respawn in Summitmist Manor, so once he enters, he cannot leave. [verification needed — Does this always happen, and on all platforms?]
[edit] Notes
- Due to the Adoring Fan's low Responsibility, he will not report crimes you commit to the guards.
- The Adoring Fan is voiced by actor Craig Sechler.
- He will respawn in the Arena District three days after dying.
- He can also respawn at the same spot he died. [verification needed — Why does this happen?]
- Even if you are wearing the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, he still knows it is you and offers no new dialogue.
