Zone 1: Anutwyll

Anutwyll
Anutwyll

When one first enters Anutwyll, one is given the option of turning to the right and jumping over a balcony into the southernmost of Anutwyll's two main rooms, or turning left and opening a locked gate (G). There is a "Push Block" switch just on the far side of the door; this can be reached by jumping down into the southern room and navigating the dungeon in a counterclockwise fashion.

Occupants:

Treasure: Don't allow the frenzy of battle amongst the numerous gas traps in Anutwyll's main chambers to cause the well-hidden Ayleid chests lurking in the shadows to go unnoticed.

Traps: One may use the Gas Traps in Anutwyll's northern room to kill the creatures inhabiting the room, but the Gas Room trap (E) in the southern room may be a more dangerous proposition. Use a ranged spell or arrow to get the creature's attention rather than attempting to manually trip the trap - there is no way to avoid the poison cloud within the Gas Room, and being trapped inside a Gas Room with one or more angry creatures is not the most desirable way to dispatch them!

  • 1 Gas Room trap at location E on map
  • 14 Gas traps at D

Doors and Gates:

  • There are two doors in/out of this zone
  • 1 Gate at G (locked). You can either pick the lock or navigate the dungeon in reverse, then open the gate using the "Push Block" on north side of door (cyan dot on map).
  • 1 Hidden Door at F, activated by a "Push Block" switch (cyan dot on map). Opening the door reveals a hidden room to the northwest that contains a precious Varla Stone.

Zone 2: Anutwyll Inner Chambers

Anutwyll Inner Chambers
Anutwyll Inner Chambers

Anutwyll Inner Chambers contains a slew of six empty gated chambers (well, almost empty - check the second door on the right for a pair of Ayleid chests) in a hallway that leads southeast and ends in a larger chamber housing a boss. The stone block in the northernmost chamber opens door D, revealing a new room to the northwest, which contains a fully avoidable Gas Trap (T) and another Ayleid chest.

Occupants:

  • 1 boss-level Monster at location A on map

Treasure:

Traps: It is hypothetically possible to train the boss to the gas trap if one has opened door D before attracting the boss's attention, but ranged and magic characters may encounter difficulty with this tactic, as the boss itself may not be amenable to the idea - for example, Minotaurs get their horns caught on the small chamber doors, and other monsters have their own problems navigating the chamber hallway.

  • 1 Gas trap at location T on map

Doors and Gates:

  • There is one door (at C) in/out of this zone, leading to the zone Anutwyll
  • 1 Hidden Door at D, opened by activating the adjacent "Push Block" switch (cyan dot on map).
