Conjurers are aggressive mage-like NPCs specializing in the school of summoning. They are always hostile and will attack you on sight.

[edit] Equipment

Conjurers wear generic Mage's Robes and are generally armed with a dagger or staff. Conjurer adepts wear hoods. Both usually carry various scrolls (which may possibly be Spell Tomes if you have installed that mod) and potions to aid them in battle.

[edit] Conjurer Types and their Equipment

Conjurers are the most common kind of Conjurers. They carry daggers and wear only robes.

Conjurer Adepts are more powerful Conjurers who are often found wielding staves in addition to their daggers. They are easily distinguishable by the hoods they wear.

[edit] Tactics

Conjurers, like Necromancers, rely on spells rather than melee to aid them in battle. They summon Daedric creatures as well as bound weapons and use Destruction spells. They will also possess leveled Mysticism and Alteration spells as well as a minor Restoration spell. Conjurers are hard to pin down and kill since they often flee from you while their creatures fight you and will heal themselves often. When their summoned creature is slain, they will simply summon another one.

Conjurers generally have a low amount of hit points. Sneak attacks or any weapon/spell that deals a decent amount of damage are effective methods of dealing with Conjurers. Silence spells are also effective in neutralizing Conjurers.

[edit] History

There are very few references to Conjurers in Oblivion, if any at all. They are most likely rogue mages who have turned to the arts of Daedric magic and broken the rules of the Mages Guild. Their hostility and secluded lifestyle implies that they are likely up to no good.

As they operate outside the bounds of the Mages' Guild, do not expect membership to soften their hostility towards you. On the other hand, killing them will not get you into any trouble with the Guild itself, despite the fact you are waging combat with fellow spellcasters.

[edit] Notes

  • Conjurers seem to be the opposite of Necromancers, since they use blades rather than blunts and summon Daedra rather than undead.
  • If you have the Spell Tomes plug-in installed, you will be sought out and attacked by a special Conjurer added by the plug-in, regardless of your location. The Conjurer will carry a leveled spell tome on his person.
