[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

[edit] The Trip to Weynon Priory

After exiting the sewers, your first task in the main quest is to deliver the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre at Weynon Priory. Of course, you can explore the land, the Imperial City that is behind you, or the Ayleid ruin that is in front of you. If you decide to go to Weynon Priory, you can either fast travel by clicking on Weynon Priory on your world map, or head towards the quest marker on foot.

[edit] Arrival at the Priory

After you arrive, you will receive a message informing you that you have arrived, and that you should find Jauffre inside the main entrance. Talk to any of the monks here, and they will inform you that Jauffre is inside at his desk upstairs. Talk to Jauffre to hand over the amulet, and complete the quest.

After talking to Jauffre about 'Assistance' you will be able to acquire numerous items:

  • Jauffre will open his supply chest, which holds both light and heavy armor, weapons, potions, and scrolls. This chest will not reset with new contents, so you can safely store items there.
  • Talk to Prior Maborel to receive a free paint horse. You'll be able to find it in the stables outside. Make sure you pick the right horse as taking any of the others will count as a crime.
  • Talk to Brother Piner to receive The Warp in the West, a Block skill book.
  • Talk to Eronor to receive a repair hammer.

[edit] Notes

  • You're in no rush to give the amulet to Jauffre. Take your time to enjoy the game, kill some creatures or bandits, sell their loot back in the Imperial City, and increase some of your skills. In fact, because the amulet is weightless, you can hold off giving the amulet to Jauffre indefinitely. However, Oblivion gates will not open until you complete the Find the Heir quest, and since you can get a free horse from this location, it is best to complete this quest early on.
  • Jauffre's chest can be used for storage as it does not respawn/reset contents. At such an early stage in the game, when you may have very little Encumbrance and no house of your own, this is a valuable bonus.

10 I witnessed Emperor Uriel Septim's assassination. Before he died, the emperor gave me the Amulet of Kings. He told me to take it to someone named Jauffre, and that Jauffre would know how to find his last surviving son. He warned that the assassins were in the service of the Lord of Destruction.
20 Baurus, one of the Emperor's bodyguards, told me that Jauffre was the head of the Blades, an order of knights sworn to protect the Emperors. then
I should take the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre, at Weynon Priory near the city of Chorrol.

50 I found Jauffre and gave him the Amulet of Kings. The Emperor's words to me filled him with foreboding, especially in light of the destruction of the city of Kvatch. Mehrunes Dagon, the Lord of Destruction, is one of the princes of Oblivion, the demonic world. It seems that with no Emperor on the throne, the daedra from Oblivion are able to invade our world.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage quest stage. Where quest is the internal name of the quest, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
